Thinking about dragons and their breaths and gnomes and their invisibility has gotten me thinking... doesn't 4e create a perverse incentive to occasionally attack yourself?

It's been brought up several times.

There are a lot of possibilities for masochistic powers, classes, and magical items.

I plan on doing something with the idea at some point.

I really really like the idea of someone producing a deadly blood sword or something by ripping into their own veins.

Definitely NOT for everyone though.

Shadar-khai or whatever they're called would fit it perfectly.
 


That's nothing new. The Blood Magus inflicted pain on itself for components. Blade of Blood (spell in PHBII) did damage to you to do an extra +2d6 on your next attack.

Right. But this makes gnomes a lot more hardcore.
