Sell me on a setting

You might also consider looking at the Scarred Lands setting book Hollowfaust. It details a city-state run by non-evil necromancers, and would be extremely easy to add to the Ghostwalk or Forgotten Realms setting, or you could run in Hollowfaust (which would be my preference, if I were you) and use the Ghostwalk rules as add-ons.

For an off-night side-trek kind of game, you don't really need more campaign world than one locale (provided it is an interesting and flavorful one, which Hollowfaust is), and the themes of exploration of death beyond a religious or mythic perspective would be enhanced by the Ghostwalk rules-set.

Actualy, given Midnight's cosmology, Ghostwalk doesn't really go all that good with it at all...

Or Midnight... :)

Actually, it is Midnight's cosmology that makes it so perfect. Sure, there are some things you want be able to use, but part of what makes Midnight unique is that it has been severed from Heaven and Hell.

When you are dead you have three options:

1. Float forever in your corpse.
2. Rise as one of the Fell, animating your body and hunting for flesh until you fall apart.
3. Rise as one of the Lost, forsaking your body to roam endlessly. This is where Ghostwalk comes in.

I actually have Hollowfaust already, and I really like most aspects of the concept -- although it takes a little finagling to excise the SL specific parts of it.

I've also just read SKR's site about Ghostwalk, and I think I like it more having seen it. I'll probably just end up picking up both products in the long run... :o

Oh, Darrin, I must be missing something -- why is it obvious that you have Ghostwalk?

Having it is job related as the primary customer support person for D&D at WotC, which is why I'm withholding my opinion. It would be impossible for me to be impartial.

I knew you had that job, but you changed your avatar picture, and I wasn't connecting the username to the job anymore!

I own Unapproachable East and know someone who owns Ghostwalk (and I've given a read through both).

I think UE has some excellent, unique flavor to it. Of the many cultures in FR, the UE peoples have some of the most different customs. Rasheman with its witches, spirits of the land, and berserker lodges, or Anglorond (sp) ruled by the Symbul...

Ghostwalk is definitely different. The city of Manifest offers several unique adventures, particularly if only part of the party is dead. The setting offers many different organizations and how they interact is interesting.

(Blatently plugs both homebrew worlds in sig, because she can)

Low'verok is like regular D&D in many respects, but with a higher emphasis on both nature and the inner planes. Many people are divided by their guilds and organizations, so conspiracy and intrigue are common, against a backdrop of untouched nature and small gods, cities that are the nexus of a hundred portals, or occasionally both.

Vasorn is a world ruled by dragons, where some races have been pushed to the fringes, other ground under the claw, and some simply left to rot. Draconic excess is felt by many, and for those who conspire with the conqurers, life can be incredibly dangerous... for both sides.

Obviously though Josh, you could keep running Hollowfaust...maybe add Shelzar. Possibly a few Slitheren? ;)
