Sell Me on Dungeon Crawl Classics For Long term Play, and NO Funnels

My DCC copy is put away in the garage right now, but how compatible is it with The Monster Overhaul? My suspicion is "very," and if so, that's so many monsters.

I didn't back Dungeon Denizens, myself, because the 3E DCC monsters -- which form a large part of the book -- were often just OK monsters or extremely specialized and I didn't find them compelling. But the Monster Overhaul both covers the basics wonderfully, it also gets just as weird as DCC can, so it covers all bases.

I ran a DCC game this past weekend with the Monster Overhaul, and it ran swimmingly. Monster Overhaul doesn’t incorporate to hit bonuses, so I took their Hd divided by two and round down in most instances. Worked well.

What makes you say that?
Taste. I dont like massive amounts of PC death and long campaigns with no meta/plot goal. The way I have played DCC a few times is testing out tournaments for a GM to run at Gencon. Pregens, or randomly roll up PCs at whatever level the module wants. The system is...funny. Though, I dont like playing it on a long term basis. It reminds me of why I dont play old school games in perpetuity. A little goes a long way for me.
