We had a blast on the first island. Did anyone else encounter were-sharks, a friendly vampire that brought us breakfast, fight skeletons that could (theoretically) be destroyed by Flare and have frequent mentions of the previous explorers Jungle Jimmie and his side-kick Punjabi Bobbi?
Did anyone else put 2 very low int characters in charge of solving mysteries?
The ship exploration lagged a bit, and we got our hats handed to us in the final caves. It took three tries. and we lost 2 PCs (one was mine) and an NPC.
Book 2
We refused to go see the hermit, thinking that we had enough info to find the lost city (?) ourselves. My second PC had great fun attacking people on the roof in the form of a souped up giant eagle.
Our DM didn't convey either the exploration or the race nature of the mission very well. We got just past the dino chick, then he burned out.
We had 3 well integrated char concepts. Overconfident teen-age explorer, a Lore oracle researching a book of children's adventure stories, and a native guide outcast by his tribesman for tainted blood. 3 other characters had little connection to story or plot.
