Setting: Aleasana--Rules and So Forth...

First Post
Here's where we put all the crunchy bits of Aleasana (see here and here for the meta-thread)--the bits that change how the game is played on our little world.

First up--changes in favored classes. I'll set them out, and then see what people think.

Half-Orcs (called Urukhs) favored class is monk.

Elf (called Shay) favored class is rogue.

Elf (called Tuatha) favored class is sorcerer.

Dwarf (called Dvergar) favored class is wizard.

Gnome (called Juni) favored class is bard.

Halfling (called Bodai) favored class is ranger.

And now that THAT's out of the way, opinions?

Hmmm... I'm not sure about Juni being Druid. I'm OK with the current standard Bard. Don't get me wrong, they should have Druids as members of their society, but I don't think it should be the favored class. That said, I can understand why you've chosen Druid, I just don't think it's the best fit. The others are OK. :)

I understand your objection, and am actually debating whether the Juni should favor bards (tale-telling elders), or switch over to druids (nature-loving mystics). Both have a certain validity...

Any ideas?

How about this... favored class can be Druid. However, there is a special Juni only prestige class that requires a Druid/Bard multi-class for entry. This prestige class could represent the tale-telling elders and might be a nice flavorful addition to the setting.

Anyway... just a thought.

Or we can just say that the gnomes produce many tale-tellers who are bards.

Not that I'm nixing the PrC, but I need to see one before deciding on the concept...

Perhaps Barbarian should be the Juni's favored class? Or maybe they treat both Barbarian and Bard as favored classes?

We really need the non-human races to be a bit better defined in contributions of the main thread.

I also submit that half-orcs (Urukh) should get a bonus feat at 1st-level like humans do. :^D

The Urukh!

Hi all! I just want to say that I've enjoyed reading the threads about Aleasana greatly. I thought that it would be nice to whip out some statistics for all the mentioned races in the thread. I think they deserve some changes to fit their flavor better.

I'll begin with the Urukh. I've tried to model them as closely to the information in the Aleasana threads as possible. Suggestions for improvements are welcome!

URUKH
The brutish and yet mysterious Urukh hail from the southwest in the nation of Ur-Sai. Most Urukh in Aleasana belong to the Black Fist Brotherhood, an exclusive organization of Urukh monks and rogues who serve as shock troops, assassins, and blockade runners for anyone who will pay their price.
Urukh Traits (Ex): Urukhs possess the following racial traits.
-- +2 Strength, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma: Urukh are powerful and well-built. Urukh tend to rely on natural cunning and gut instinct rather than wits or persuasion when dealing with other races.
-- Medium size.
-- An urukh's base land speed is 30 feet.
-- Darkvision up to 60 feet. In addition, an urukh has low-light vision which allows it to see twice as far as a human in low-light conditions.
-- +2 racial bonus on Survival checks: Urukh knows how to get around in the wild.
-- +1 racial bonus on Fortitude saving throws: Urukh are very resistant to effects that harm their bodily health.
-- Stability: Urukh are broad-shouldered. An urukh gains a +2 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but nit when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground).
-- Weapon Familiarity: Urukh may treat kama and nunchaku as martial weapons, rather than exotic weapons.
-- Endurance: Urukhs receive Endurance as a racial bonus feat.
-- Favored Class: Monk.

Designer Notes: I've pictured them living in or close to the Sun's Anvil Desert. In my first draft I gave them +2 Con, -2 Int (I thought it would make more sense to make them hardier rather than stronger than other races). But than again, I am not quite sure I know exactly where they are supposed to thrive. Darkvision and the "Orc Blood" trait seems out of place, so I've removed them and replaced them with low-light vision (x2) and Endurance as a bonus feat.

Next race: Bodai or Juni ... should the Isslen race be made PC friendly?
