SG1: An Old Friend (Wik Judging)

[Spot Check]

Genithar does not notice any others hiding in the room. This room has fewer areas for it. The thugs seems to carry no additional weapons besides their various swords, though potions are clearly visible from potion bracers and the brute's wrist. The elf's keen eyes pick up a few rings on the kobold's claws, and what appears to be the glint of metal underneath his clothes.

[Bluff vs. Sense Motives]

The various rogues chuckle at the mage's apparent weakness. However, the glint in the kobold's eye gives the impression that it may not be fooled. Its unclear, because it gives no indication one way or the other when it speaks next.

"The exchange is simple." The kobold pointedly does not mention its name. "You get the dwarf to tell us what we want to know, and we part amicably. Nothing more simple. It should not be too difficult, considering the expeditii messengari he is employing even now." Cheep ducks behind Corran, its purpose now clear to the others gathered.

"Information! Is that all?" Balnibar pipes up. "Well, that should be a simple enough task to receive, don't you think? Yes, can't imagine it too much trouble, especially for a fellow Inquisitive."

Balnibar scans the kobold up and down, tossing offhandedly, "Not too many kobold Inquisitives, no, not too many..."

"As for intelligence, we should discuss your contracting sources. A whole lot of bloodshed could have been prevented long ago before us coming here. As you have so astutely observed, our goals are far from mutually exclusive. There is always a good chance for business-minded folk like ourselves to come to a mutually beneficial agreement. So, let's discuss this. What business do you have here? What do you need to accomplish to earn the greatest profits from your employer?"

OOC: Not out of the woods yet in RL; I may remain busy for some time, but I'm here for the moment. Diplomacy check in the speech, Appraise check for the kobold's outfit and accoutrements--what does he have?

[You really to have a good look to get an appraisal, but the kobold's outfit is very expensive. You've heard there is a artisan clothmaker in Sharn that would be hard pressed to match it. The other items Balnibar cannot get a beat on]

The kobold smiles a toothy grin. "I have already told you what we need. We--"

"I'll tell you what we need! That dwarf knows about the aberrant Draconic Prophesy and he ain't tell'n! You better talk or I'll---"

At the interruption, the kobold calmly folds its hands and then... just... looks. The brute snarls and blanches simultaneously. "I'm paying you---"

"Yes, you are. And thus, you should let me do my job."

The two look at each other, a brief contest of wills. The brute turns away fuming while the kobold continues. "As I was saying. The dwarf has some information about the Draconic Prophesy, specifically concerning arberrant dragonmarks. Has something to do with a Xen'drik expedition he was on according to my employer. My employer wants that information. And I am going to get it. So, you help us get that, and everything will be solved."

Behind Corran, Cheep whispers, "But I be telling you, I never be doining nothing with this Prophecy! I not be knowing what they be on about!"

Still leaning heavily upon Corran, the Wizard seems dazed as he mumbles something under his breath, probably a curse at the difficulties confronting the group.

[Sblock=Message Whisper Balnibar] Don't mention the Kolodran Schema, yet [/Sblock]

But, straightening with a very real grunt of pain from his broken ribs, Genithar replies slowly but powerfully towards the kobald, 'I take it this Gentleman is your employer? If so, please explain to us why we should not make our terms with him alone?

Transferring his gaze to the fuming and well armed aberrant 'mark, the elf continues guilelessly, Sir, if you're paying for information our troop can successfully gather, why should you dally with someone who's failed? I'm sure we can come to an agreement that benefits both our parties. Though I am concerned about the number of watchmen in the area....'

ooc; if G has to make any bluff/diplomacy/sense motive checks, he'll use an AP if the roll is above 12 but below 18. Again, this scene is really kicking ass! Can't wait for the others to post!

[G+B's Diplomacy Check]

The brute grips his hands together, but does not seem as immediately likely to try to kill you all. However, he seems likely to if he is not given what he wants.

The brute looks shrewdly---as shrewdly as he can---over at the kobold. "You haven't delivered, have 'ya. I'm sure these ones will talk after we break one of them open. Won't have to wait for yer fancy toys." The bile in the voice is clear.

The kobold seems unfazed. "I doubt they will be any more forthright after you have killed one of them, but that is not my concern. Your organization has paid for my services, and thus you have them. I will finish the job as I was contracted to do."

The air is tense.

I fear our employer is unable to hunt down the information you are looking for. He has seen so much that it is hard to locate one particular experience. Perhaps you could help him focus his search by providing a few details that would help him track down that which you seek.
Corran continues to watch the kobold's employer, sure that any sudden action will come at his behest.

ooc; it's poppin' off now! STONEGOD, can you please confirm that the upper side of the room holds a door to a bridge, or is it a window? Basically, is it another exit? and if so, can we see through to the other side?

Not losing the momentum of the conversation while attempting to maintain his calm, if pained, demeanor, Genithar keeps speaking at the larger brute as he adds to Corran's softly spoken words, 'Indeed, pray let us stave off violence if we can and see our way to a mutually beneficial conclusion. Perhaps were our group to know more fully what it is you sought sir, I'm most confident we could procure it. Furthermore, if your scaly companion has failed in his charge, regardless of his fee, perhaps he is no longer needed here?'

The kobold's toothy grin disappears, and instead it looks directly at the mage. Genithar is drawn into his eyes. And what he sees there comes close to shattering his mind. He cannot put his mind on any one thing... but one thing is clear. Do not disparage my work.
[sblock=Genithar]Ah, the joy of social skills... PCs can use them, but NPCs are not supposed to. However, for your knowledge, Genithar has been Intimidated with a very successful check. He is definitely understanding Aldus' fear of the creature. Take that as you will.[/sblock]

Attempting to meet the Kobald's gaze, but faltering, Genithar shrinks against Corran.
Still, the Wizard's gaze rises back to the apparent leader of the group, attempting to gauge his feelings on the matter.

Waiting for Balnibar to chime in again, Genithar murmurs in an exhausted tone, 'Please just tell us what you seek to know.'

ooc; is the door barred or locked in anyway? If not, CAN it be barred or locked?
