SG1: An Old Friend (Wik Judging)

The kobold's eyes flicker with something unpleasant at Mathew's words, but before it could say anything, Genithar tried to smooth the situation. Unfortunately, it seemed to only partly work.

"Speak with 'im alone? Likely let him go!"
The brute was working up a fury. "I don't think you understand. You get him to tell use what he knows about the aberrant marks he found in Xen'drik now! Either that or we---"

A knock interrupted the tirade. A voice from the other side of door called. "Boss! Toby's back. Got that thing the freak asked for!"

The kobold smiles a small smile as the rear door is opened and a greasy looking fellow with a scroll tube steps in, followed by a tallish man with a sword and what appeared to be burn marks running down his arms. As the door is closed, the kobold calmly speaks. "Well, gentlemen, your time seems to be up. That scroll is the means by which I will open this cage and get what we want by force. So, as my employer so graciously pointed out. Tell us anything you know, or suffer the consequence."

OOC: Well I think we have exhausted our options.

Mathew looks nervously at his companions. He takes a deep breath and says "What do you want to know?"

[Not true. Genithar and Balnibar know something the party does not and may act on it. In addition, you may either try to stall or try to attack first or wait for the others to act. Or do something I don't expect. While the number of options are limited, you still have choice.

The others have asked explicitly what they want to know: They believe Aldus has some info about aberrant dragonmarks he discovered on a mission to Xen'drik. Aldus claims either not have this information or not to remember it, which the group is apparently not believing.

Hope that clears things up. Info can be lost a lot easier in PbP.]

ooc word, there's a lot we can still try, though things are getting VERY tense. Let's keep it in game, we've got plans to make!

The Wizard reacts quickly to the developing situation, straightening his back with a small groan and only keeping a single heavy hand upon Corran for support. Speaking in an concilitory tone towards only the well armored heavy, he intones powerfully, 'Good Sir, you mistake my intentions, for my companions and I are able to speak with our employer in real time. Should you give us but a moment to confer with him, I'm positive we can discover information that would prove valuable. I believe I've heard the tale of this discovery you speak of, something I read about in the journals some time ago. Please, for the sake of sparing us all further violence, let my group adjourn to this small corner for but a minute and pool our knowledges. As I've said from the beginning, I'm very confident we can come to an accord. Will you allow this?'
Ending his speech, he motions to the NW corner.

ooc; Diplomacy, please. I've been trying to have G focus on the heavy through this scene, instead of verbally sparring with the kobald, so I hope this is an appropriate roll. I'll spend my last action point too, please. Also, STONEGOD, can you give us a new map if there's more hostiles?

[Your diplomacy on the brute has already been made, so no need for another AP. Can't do another. As noted there, he's not hostile, but highly unfriendly currently.]

The brute spits, and against his better judgement looks to the kobold. "They are correct," the little one answers. "They can speak to him through the 'familiar'" The sneer in the word is obvious---the kobold knows the brute has no idea what a homunculus is. "Feel free to give them a moment. I can now open a door, and the 'familiar' can always be taken from them later."

The brute glares at the kobold, then at the party. "Be quick. And if I even suspect some spell cast'n, you'll be dead before you cen finish."

ooc; good enough for me! Thanks for the map and I'm really enjoying this! Rock on!

Gathering his bruised and battered friends close, the Wizard quickly seizes on Cheep, whispering harshly at the creature, but attempting to keep his words from the hostiles all around them, 'Aldus! Are you there? Quickly now man, listen and answer; will you come to our aid if we battle these here? What is the Kolodran Piece? Tell me everything you know of it and what happened in your quest to find it? Anything about this room we should know? Lastly, where is Doggie kept?'

Waiting for the dwarf to reply, Genithar looks to his friends with keen eyes and smirks, whispering in tones only a fox with a hearing aid could detect, "We can always run back the way we came, we just have to neutralize the one wiry rogue. I would rather NOT fight these men, but if it comes to battle, we have our smoke sticks for confusion, but we'd have to negate their numbers too. We could attempt to crowd into this narrow hallway behind us, Mathew and Corran taking out the Rogue, then Lorth can take them on one at a time, while we fire bolts from behind him and Corran heals as needed. Other suggestions or plans?'
The elf waits patiently for Aldus and his comrades to respond, though it is obvious the tense air has heightened his senses and anxiety.

Cheep tries to whisper quietly. "I be unarmed man, or I would be trying to protect meself more. Be of little use I be sure."

"I told you I not knowing where Doggie and Fetch be. But as the only place you not be being is me first floor, they must be being there."

The homunculus looks lost in thought. "Kolodran? You be meaning Koldoran? My gar, that be over a decade ago. That be a story to tell. Why they be interested... oh! That thing was covered in the darnedest marks, remember Celib muttering something about it. But that thing be stolen off the boat before we be getting it back to Morgrave. If they want to know about that, I cannot be helping them---it be gone!"

Pressing his point, the Wizard hisses, 'Anything you can remember will help! Where in Xen'drick did you find this Koldoran item? Was anyone competing with you to find it? Who do YOU think stole it off the boat? Who in Morgrave hired you to find it? Also, you don't have any infusion that might aid us?'

Looking to his friends, Genithar suggests, 'If we break for the first floor, back the way we came, to regroup and collect Doggie, we'd have to get that scroll that just arrived, to keep Aldus secure.'

Corran nods appreciatively as he listens to Genithar, but looks at a loss. All of your ideas sound solid, friend wizard. Sadly, I can add little of value. We are the hunted, and we have no clear path to escape. How can we get the scroll without pushing them to attack?
We only need Matthew to get downstairs to fetch Doggie, right? Could the rest of us distract them and hold the fort while he does that?
