Shadowrun is in all ways superior to D20 Modern

*Sigh* I remember a time where trolls used to be shot dead on sight. Now they are to be recognized as a sentient life form with its own unique traditions and we actually have to feed them. It just ain't like the old days! But the trolls are just like in the old days: annoying, stupid, and easily scared when confronted with facts. It's like bright summer day sun at midnight in deep winter for them. :D

I mean you can make a case that D20 Moderns firearms system is not remotely realistic (for its autofire rules for example) but chance to hit and random damage are not one of its problems.
Well, the Shadowrun System is not realistic, either...
Firing 15 rounds (maximum number of rounds per single attack) with a Vindicator grants you a extreme high chance not to hit anything at all - regardless if it is an old, blind grandma (no kobolds in Shadowrun, sorry) 5 feet before you...

Oh, and don`t get me to start on with the ulitmate weapon of destruction - a shotgun. :)

Yeah, I know. But I usually like to give someone the benefit of the doubt before I shoot them on sight. Call me an optiimist. :)

Hmm if this isn't a great example of a Troll I don't know what is.

1) Member has only ever made one post.
2) Statement of "facts" which anyone how knows anything about the subject know to be incorrect.
3) Inflamatory in content.

Don't forget #4 - the user name itself is a dead giveaway. :)

As for all this talk about "realism" in Shadowrun - IT'S A GAME ABOUT DRAGONS, ELVES AND CYBERNETIC IMPLANTS!!!!

I warned you not to feed the trolls, especially after midnight and never get 'em wet...

Oh wait, wrong movie!

:D

As soon as you know it's a troll, you shoot him. He had all the benefit of doubt (usually his own) by then ;)

Sorry... Boys... I'm sometwhat responsible for this...

I put the Shadowrun in Shadowrun man. He absolutely adores the game, but he is a little uninformed about d20 modern.

He and I both, however share the opinion that HP and firearms don't mix terribly well.

Besides? A sniper rifle dealing 1d12?

Shadowrun:
Wallacher Combat Axe Damage: (str)S
Barret Mdl. 121 Heavy Sniper Rifle: 15D

D20 System:
Greataxe: 1d12
Sniper Rifle: 1d12

Seems a little different, but I see the world through an odd pair of rose-colored contacts.

Never seen a sniper rifle in d20m with 1d12 of damage (or any firearm with only one damage die). The smaller ones deal 2d8 (very few), the middle ones 2d10, and the big fellas 2d12. Double-Tab that bastard, and you have 3d12. At several hundred feet reach (with penalties, but over 100 feet are possible without penalty).

And with a heavy machinegun and burst, dealing 4d12, the fun really starts....

One other thing, based on gamecat's post - if d20 Modern's default is not lethal enough for you, cranking down the Massive Damage Threshold (as suggested in the DM's section) is a good modification to make.

Gamecat, any idea if "Shadowrun Man" plans to post here any more, or this a hit-and-run? :)
