Shadowrun Returns (Another Kickstarter Video Game)

Over on Kickstarter Jordan Weisman has just launched a Kickstarter project to bring a new Shadowrun video game. He wants the full tactical RPG experience, which sounds awesome to me.

That is something I've always wanted. Shadowrun is really one of my 4 favorite RPGs (D&D, Star Wars d6, Traveller, and that.)

If I had to pick one game as most-beloved, it would be a three-way tie. There's X-Com, there's Road Rash, and then there's Shadowrun for the Sega Genesis. That was the spring break where I didn't go on vacation; rather I spent every waking hour roaming Seattle. It was a rare thing for its time: a good western RPG. It was pretty deep. It had a whole separate set of gameplay for netrunning, it had weapon customization, it had an open-world style of gameplay, and it had infinite missions that I could grind on until I could afford the next spell or bit of cyberware.

Ah, nostalgia. Needless to say, backing this kickstart was a no-brainer for me.

The Sega Genesis game was great. They've already funded, so now it's abut getting them a bit more cash, so they can flesh out the game a bit more.

All in all, I'm excited about the resurgence of old school crpgs.

It's funny too, he mentions his Docwagon Card. I actually have a card from Shadowun in my wallet - one of the area passes from the Denver boxed set.

Never realized my wallet was that old.
