Gradually, the rain ceased, although the rumble of thunder can still be heard in the distance. The door swung open, and some manner of entity slipped through the entrance. The black-claoked thing pulled his hood back just an inch, revealing a weathered human face. Quickly, he swung his eyes across the mixed patrons of the place, before glancing longingly outside. "Sad.." he whipsered. "I love the rain.."

He set his weapons, a long guisarme and a wide-bladed sword, at the designated spot. Suddenly, his eyes blazed, and he located Brews. "Aye there, mighty one! I could use a draft of something cool to the palate; but I know not your local brew. T'would please me to have something mild."
Then his eyes drifted to the sign. "Of stories have have none..." he murmured. "I have not even memories. All I know is my name, my blades, and my darkness, but I will give you what I have. My name is Samarik Thertas, and I am a wanderer without family or holding."

With that, he found a place in the corner of the bar, within eyesight of his weapons, and waited for something interesting to come along.

Dusk approached, and after Samarik had finished his drink, he drifted outside.

After about two hours, he returned. "Aye there, Brews. Would you know of a place one could sleep, without the bandits setting upon him?" he questioned, "It looks as though my business here is going to take longer than I had thought...." He shook his head. "'Tis too close to people, this place. The energies whipping about makes my head swim. With any luck, my contact will reach me and all will be well. If not; then I know not what awaits me.

The door to the Sharn Tavern opens gently and a young boy walks in with a dog. Striding to the bar he says with a smile, "Hello sir, I am Fritz and this is my dog Liam. Might I trouble you for a meal?. Fritz sits at the end of the bar, obviously out of place, and Liam sits quietly next to him. Fritz scans the room looking for some kind face.

The dog walking into the bar catches Samarik's eye, and he studies the boy. Not seeing any threat, he stands and greets the youngling. "Aye there, lad. What brings you to a hard place like this?" He asks permission to pet the dog, saying, "I've always loved these animals. He looks an unfamiliar breed, but that would fit with this unfamiliar place." If the boy nods, he smiles and allows the dog to get his scent.

Fritz looks up at the stranger. Sure, his name is Liam, Im Fritz. He looks after me and I look after him. We are an adventuring team. Whats your name?

"Adventuring, eh?" Samarik gives the boy a curious look. "My name is Samarik Thertas. I seek the twin goal of experiencing my future and discovering my past. What is it that you seek?"

He gives the dog a gentle scratch behind it's ears.

Entering the Tower's Shard slowly as his eyes adjust to the light, a priest dressed in white is quick to spot the sign posted by the door.

"A discount in exchange for a good tale? Well I've got the greatest tale of all time, gather 'round one and all! My name is Rethlin, and this is a tale of real events that changed our world."

"They say she was human once, but Tira Miron left her mortality behind her some 700 years ago! A vision of a rainbow-winged serpent warned her about a terrible evil rising in Thrane, riding crimson fire. This fire had drawn dark creatures from far and wide to venerate it and try to free the malevolent entity trapped within. Lady Miron rallied the forces of Thrane to defeat these creatures. Then, with her greatsword Kloinjer, the Paladin turned to face the demon that was emerging from the flame. It was then that the rainbow-winged serpent appeared and dove headfirst into the fire. The battle within seemed to last an eternity, Lady Miron watched as the demon began to overcome the serpent."

"Horrified, she saw the demon strike a crippling blow to the serpent. The serpent, in the throes of death, encircled the demon in its coils and buried its fangs into the demon's throat. At the same time the serpent sent a mental plea to Lady Miron, and she did not hesitate. Raising her sword high she leaped into the flames and plunged Kloinjer through the writhing serpent and deep into the demon's flesh."

"Legend says that a powerful explosion then rocked the entire kingdom! The hot crimson fire became a cool silver flame. Lady Miron remained within, now part of the divine flame. She became the voice of the silver flame for eternity, and a new religion was born! At the point where the flame erupts from the ground it is said that mighty Kloinjer is buried to the hilt, binding demon, serpent, and the Paladin Tira Miron together forever."

"Now that, my friends, is the most epic tale of all time! Hail the Silver Flame!"

Rethlin goes down onto one knee and proceeds to pray with all his heart.

Samarik watches the man speak, slightly startled by the mans' boisterous attitude. When the man starts to pray, he shows a sad smile and turns to Brews. "I'll take another drink, if you please."

Fritz can be seen thinking about the inquery.
I want to be powerful. People like powerful people.

Fritz watches the priest pray and seems a bit curious.

Samarik nods. "Power eh? Power for the sake of power leads down a dark path, lad." he takes a sip of his drink, then says, "There are better ways to get people to like you."

Then he glanced over at the priest and wondered what his pupose here was.
