"Only to me. It's probably better that way though." Ambra says, smiling slightly.

'Hmmph. As if I'd talk to these lowlifes.'

"I think I could make him talk though, if I had a little more power. Brye- my real brother I mean, said he'd be able to make his talk one day, he took after my dad and his crystal could keep up a conversation for hours if you'd let it." Ambra says, her stammer vanishing as she loses herself in the memory "Used to go on about the weirdest things in all sorts of far off places, the stuff dad would never talk about himself. That's why we came here actually, dad's crystal always talked about dad starting out here and having family in Sharn-"

'and do you really want to remember what happened next? Or share that with a bunch of complete strangers, any one of whom might happily kill you for a hundred different reasons?'

"...a-and, so uh... here I am. Um, but I'm sure you all have far more interesting stories to tell. Being adventurers and all." Ambra finishes, promptly caging up while her crystal makes vaguely aggressive motions with its' legs, like a wary dog growling at intruders.

Kenn raises an eyebrow at Ambra's segue.
"I wouldn't know: I spent most of my last adventure unconscious."
He spreads his hands and looks at the group innocently.
"I said I was a gentleman of fortune -- I didn't say good fortune."

"I'm here to learn, and I find your story fascinating," Arvan says, taking a seat. "But I'm sure many here have something to hide, so if you wish not to share more, you are certaintly not alone." Arvan reaches over with his hand towards the crystal. Almost to pet it, or let it be sniffed first. His hand bends a bit oddly as he does so, though perhaps it's just the glove.

"As for adventure, I have yet to do anything of note, hense my common title. I hope to earn a better one."

Then with a sudden crackling noise, the crystal comes to life. A small but bright violet light emanates from the crystal, and lightning-like tendrils of psionic energy form four legs, upon which the crystal begins to stand.

"This is Brye. He's kind of my brother... only not really. More like the memory of my brother really. It's difficult to explain. Um... he doesn't really like strangers much, but he shouldn't hurt you as long as I tell him not to." She smiles apologetically.

Khuther jumps from his chair as the crackling goes off, slumbered as he was deep in own thoughts he had a rude awakening back to the Tavern.

'hm! hum! what! in the earth is that?' he looks at the thing then he realizes what the little girl is saying and back to the thing 'your brother? how did he get to this state girl?'

'Well discretion is sometimes the best option as far i know' 'not that i have any' 'as my partner over there that was unconscious recently, we haven't seen much to real adventure, at least not in quantity, and i assume that we or at least I want some more' 'your story is the most fascinating i ever heard before' Khuther snaps his finger and with some Prestidigitationhe makes his bottle of wine and glass come floating to his hands 'but pardon me... my name. Khuther to assist! miss? ...'

"I told you he's not my real brother! ...And I'm not lying!" Ambra snaps suddenly, her voice raising sharply and taking on an almost hysterical tone as she clenches her fingers tighly around her psicrystal. Privately, Ambra tries to avoid wincing as her dragonmark begins to burn.

'Somehow I don't think they're going to believe that. This happens every time you let your guard down. You open up to someone, invariably end up dissappointed, then fly off the handle. In fact if you ask me that's what got us into this mess in the first pla-'

"Yeah well no one asked you did they, so just shut up!" Ambra shouts, cutting the energy from her psicrytal and sending it limp. A second later she realises she said that out loud. Her mark cools. She instantly goes quiet.

"Sorry." She mumbles, barely above a whisper. "Brye just said something that really got to me... I just- If you must know the real Brye died. It wasn't- I just don't want to talk about it yet. Sorry." She returns her hands to her absinthe and takes another, much longer drink.

[sblock]Well unless he's got a good amount of spot he probably won't be able to see Ambra's mark, it's behind her right ear and only the very edge is visable. That said if he's an expert on dragonmarks (simply having a least marks wouldn't be enough I think, but if he's studied dragonmarks sure) he may know that the skin around an aberrant mark is often bruised, sickly or burnt, which might give him cause to suspect something if he spots more of her mark. Arvan puts a gentile gloved hand (though Ambra finds it oddly pointy at the fingertips) on Ambra's shoulder. "No need to appologize, you are among friends. No one here will let harm come to you."

Eyes narrowing slightly, Veyk says " Noble words, Arvan the Chosen, but do not presume to speak for all of us. However, I will take that as a challenge, to not let harm come to the girl. Besides, any opportunity to test my virgin blade would be welcomed by me. I shall not back down from a fight here. "

"I find your lack of tact... disturbing," Arvin says, and dismisses Veyk from further notice.

He finds a seat at the table. "Do not worry Ambra. Those that hide behind the threat of violence do so only because they lack the threat of power. You are safe here."

" Well, sir, in your rush to be ' tactful ' with the young lady, you forgot to be ' tactful ' with the rest of us. " says Veyk, eyes following the Seren man.

" And as for violence, there too do you ignore the obvious in your blind overture. ' ... he should not hurt you as long as I tell him not to... ' , do you remember that? Are you deaf to the implicit threat contained therein, intentional or not? "

" I am not truly the violent sort, by nature, but when a stranger presumes to speak for me, I oft have a difficult time ignoring the offense. You would do well to remember that in your dealings with others. "

Veyk delivers his rebuke in the same neutral tone that he used before, with neither a smile nor a frown. Only in his eyes is his anger betrayed.
