By those rules, though, digging a hole in the ground with the floor with some wooden, sharpened sticks stick on the floor and camouflaged with leaves and such can cost hundreds or thousands of gold pieces to build, and take weeks or months to build.

Anvuss locates a needle stuck in a groove on the seat, and grins, figuring it to be the main trap. As he goes to pluck out the needle, though, he notices that it's hinged to go downward, under the seat, instead of above. Curious, he carefully looks and feels under the chair, and finds a small bladder held between two of the seat's boards. He pulls at it, and it tears open, sending a small jet of ale up between the boards and onto the seat proper--surely embarrassing if anyone had sat there before he found it. After a second look over, he very carefully sits down, satisfied in his safety.

Balnibar claps. "Well done! Most folks I know would stop at the needle. You've got a keen eye, may it serve you well! Come, I owe you a drink!"

"Thank you! The test you posed was quite diverting. I would be happy to sit with you while you drink, but I do not consume beverages or foodstuff personally. I am impressed that you could fashion such a clever mechanism with the limited materials available. You are an extremely efficient craftsman!"

Lager in hand, Balnibar sits with Anvuss. "You don't eat or drink at all, interesting. Is there anything you need to do to maintain your strength? Sleep? Do you consume magical energy? I haven't had much chance to work with the warforged, personally. You are entirely fascinating to me."

"Can warforged be turned undead?" asks Seat. "Not that I want to do anything to you, just professionally curious. I´ve seen nothing about undead warforged, but that may be just because they are so relatively new"

"I haven't heard of undead warforged. One hopes none such exist, though in the twisted ruins of the Mournland who knows what might be found? The 'forged do not sleep. Whether we consume raw magical energy, I do not know... perhaps we are in some way energized in the same manner as a self sustaining magical ring, but for unknown reasons are not easilly disrupted as rings can be by magic banishing effects. It would be an interesting area to explore as a scholar, though personally I prefer avenues of inquiry more likely to result in the creation of usefull items. I doubt such a purely academic inquiry would be of use in my art."

The door to the inn opens, revealing a snowy haired gentleman in the doorway. His bushy beard and mustache accent his sizeable nose. He is decked out in a full-length, many-pocketed, brown leather greatcoat over fine, navy blue clothing and carries a cane topped with a miniature silver toad. A plain leather tri-corn hat tops the ensemble. The spectacles resting on the bridge of his nose glint in the lamp-light of the inn as he walks, with a pronounced limp, over to Brews behind the bar.

He and Brews exchange a few words, and the old man seems flustered at one point, shaking his cane at Brews. The exchange doesn't seem genuinely heated, and Brews seems bemused at worst.

[sblock=Listen DC 15]"I've got no stories for you, you blasted scrapheap, I was told that this might be the place to hire some ... discreet help."[/sblock]

Brews finally motions a hand around the bar indicating everyone present and then to one of the back rooms. The old man turns around to peer at the patrons of the inn, seemingly surprised.

He takes a few steps away from the bar and clears his throat. "My my, there are quite a few of you, aren't there. It seems that I've come to the right place then. I've got a job for a few of you ... uh ... adventurers, provided you can be discreet. I'll pay good coin for your ... erm ... services. I'm told it's customary for potential employers to conduct business in a back room. Do hurry it up and don't keep me waiting, I haven't got all bloody day, and I don't particularly want to walk back through this area at night.

With that, he hobbles his way into a back room with a shout of, "Barkeep! Bring me a hot toddy and a few muffins!"

Shoot didn't know much about Sharn, but he recognized the man as a university professer. He must be real smart!

Shoot strained to hear what they were saying, but Fang chose an inopportune time to growl, and Shoot missed hearing what the man said.

Shoot thought that it might be interesting to work for the teacher. He might learn something fun. He looked down at Fang, who seemed to be getting overwhelmed by the number of people in the small room. "Hey, Fang", he called, "let's go meet the nice man in the other room. C'mon, boy!"

The forged put away his whittling, leaving a pile of wood shavings on the floor, and led the wolf to the back room.
