Shifter's GWS cancelled by Antimagic field?

I don't have Masters of the Wild in front of me, so someone please refresh my memory. When a Shifter uses his Greater Wildshape prestige ability to change forms and then steps into an Antimagic field, is he prevented from actively changing forms while still keeping his present form, or is he forced back to his original form?

If it's a supernatural ability, it's suppressed in an AMF, which means the shifter is forced back into his natural form. When he leaves the AMF, it comes back into effect, and he immediately back into whatever form he had taken.

Then again, I haven't read the class, so I might be missing something.

The ability is supressed for the duration of the stay within the AMF. Once the AMF expires or the shifter moves, he resumes his previous form.

I know those are the normal rules for supernatural powers, I just couldn't remember if the Shifter class gave a specific allowance for the Evershifting form. I like the class concept, am I missing something or is it a bit underpowered?

Underpowered? Isn't this the ability that lets you turn into any monster, including the Tarrasque?

(Except in my game, of course. I houserule that the Tarrasque has an archetypal shape which cannot be duplicated. But that's just me.)

So take out the tarrasque. How is a 10th level shifter better than a 17+ level druid with Shapechange, 1000 faces, supernatural elemental forms, and 17-20 caster levels worth of spells?

It's the class from Masters of the Wild that eventually allows the character to change into any creature from size Fine to Gargantuan that has fewer HD than the character. The character gains only the Ex abilities of the creature in question, making it somewhat less powerful than it sounds. (Spell resistance is Su, energy resistances/immunities tend to be Ex abilities, and flight tends to be Ex. I had a shifter in my game, so I had to look up a lot of stuff for the char :) )

IMC I added a +1 to caster level for every 3 Shifter levels gained

IIRC Druid characters who take the PrC get the added perk of being able to interchange parameters between Wildshape and Greater Wildshape. Since there is no HD cap for Wildshape, the Druid/Shifter could kind of go off with some of the GWS transformations. I'm still not sure the PrC can compare to a straight Druid, however, especially when one epic feat allows a normal druid to turn into a dragon WITH supernatural abilities....
