Shillelagh Question.

How much damage does a Shillelagh spell do when cast on a medium size quarterstaff? The SRD says:

It deals damage as if it were two size categories larger (a Small club or quarterstaff so transmuted deals 1d8 points of damage, a Medium 2d6, and a Large 3d6), +1 for its enhancement bonus.

There seems to be a discrepancy. A medium quarterstaff does 1d8, one size category would be 2d6, two size categories larger would be 3d6?

Medium Large Huge
1d8 2d6 3d6
1d10 2d8 3d8
2d6 3d6

Now it seems unreasonable that a first level spell would increase the damage from 1d8 to 3d6. I don't have my books with me, do they say the same thing? The 3.5 PHB errate doesn't mention it.

Would Shillelagh stack with 'Enlarge Person'? Normally I would say no but annoyingly enough the wording in Shillelagha "It deals damage as if it is two sizes larger".

Actually, a medium quarterstaff does 1d6. So it would be 1d8 and then 2d6 with this spell.

A medium quarterstaff normaly does 1d6 and the spell clearly states that it inceases a medium quarterstaff to 2d6 which is two steps above 1d6. And yes, Shillelagh would stack Enlarge Person.
