D&D (2024) Should full casters and Monks have one weapon mastery?

Cool SPELL effects would logically come from a spell, otherwise they are just cool effects and if you want effects that are specifically not from spells you should say cool effects from something other than a spell or cool non-spell effects.

Further regardless of what meaning you are using, both bases are covered pretty effectively; Paladin and Ranger have cool SPELL effects in spades, and other martials have cool non-spell effects ... weapon masteries being just one of them, with numerous others available.

I don't know this for a fact firmly believe they were talking about spells specifically i.e. - give casters martial effects when martials get spell effects, but whether they are talking about cool spell effects or cool non-spell effects, there are lots of examples of both of those provided to martial classes (many provided ONLY to martial classes) in the 2024 rules.
weapon masteries are like, the cantrips of cool non-spell effects for martials, when do we get the rest of the 9 levels of cool non-spell effects for martials? especially given casters have their 9 levels explicitly laid out.

edit: given martial abilities lean more the quantity side of quality VS quantity scale they'd probably scale up to like, 5th level spell effects to balance that out, but we're still not exactly overflowing with the martial's equivilants on the levels of animate objects, commune, destructive wave, geas, insect plague, mass cure wounds, passwall, scrying, wall of stone...

Please logically consider what you are saying.

Obviously spells have been available for over a decade.

What has not been is effects, for martial classes outside of spells.

Please logically consider what you are saying.

"cool spell effect" = logically and literally this means a cool effect from a spell. Cool is an adjective and spell is an attributive noun in this phrase.

I am not a mind reader but we have other posters saying the exact same thing - literally in the second post "Are you also thinking of giving full martials more spells?"

Are you going to tell me that poster did not mean spells too?

Yes, I'm going to tell you that wanting effects, for martials, that are not spells, is absolutely the point.

no, what they likely meant there was probably more like 'are you even going to do anything to attempt to counteract anything about this march into further caster supremacy'

At higher level. All martials get an epic boon at level 19 and 20 and some of them get a good capstone at level 20 (others don't), finally some of their higher level abilities are comparable to a 9th level spell and lower level abilities are comparable to lower level spells.

edit: given martial abilities lean more the quantity side of quality VS quantity scale they'd probably scale up to like, 5th level spell effects to balance that out,

No. Epic Boons and most capstones are a lot better than 5th level spells and things like Indomitable(3) are better than comparable 9th level spells. Many of the subclass abilities of martials compare well to the high level spells full casters are getting at the level you get them as well (and high-level subclass abilities for martials are generally much better than high level subclass abilities for non-martials)

I just find it a bit jarring that for 10 levels the bard has a strong flavor and feels like it's own class and then has 10 levels where it's just a bootleg version of every other class.
I'm reminded of AD&D Illusionists, who got, among their top tier spells, the ability to take low-level Magic-User spells.
