Shrieking Bat Fireball, wizard spell

Ok, I'm not terribly conversant with 4th ed, so, apologies for any glaring errors ;)
Alas, only managed ot play 4th ed twice so far, sigh.
The idea behind this spell is that a wizard, who favoured conjuring type spells, noted the problems of regular Fireballs, in that they hit allies!

SHRIEKING BAT FIREBALL, Wizard Daily attack spell level 9

You lob a hissing mass of writhing, animate flame at the target, where it erupts into a shrieking swarm of burning bats of ethereal flame, conjured from the Elemental Chaos! They hunt down and scour your foes in an a few hearbeats, then fade from existance, leaving friends unscathed.

DAILY - Arcane, Implement, Conjuration, Fire
Standard Action Burst 3 within 20 squares
Target: Each enemy within burst
Attack: Intelligence versus AC
Hit: 3d4 + Intelligence modifier
Effect: The swarm of fiery bats attacks any enemy creature in range, even invisible enemies and ignores cover as they swarm through and around obstacles, but those with complete cover cannot be targetted.

Bits of 4th ed I'm not sure of:
They detect invisible enemies with echo location so areas of silence may negate that.
They are extraplanar creatures so spells in effec tthat bock such would negate this spell?

I like the idea and think its a reasonable in-game mechanism for a Wizard to avoid friends. I've not compared it to other effects of the same level - it should do noticeable less damage.

The swarm of fiery bats attacks any enemy creature in range, even invisible enemies and ignores cover as they swarm through and around obstacles, but those with complete cover cannot be targetted.

I wold not mention this but just let the normal area effect rules e in play - cover protects if it is between the target and the center point, concealment does not help.

They detect invisible enemies with echo location so areas of silence may negate that.

This is below the 4E event horizon, ignore it.

They are extraplanar creatures so spells in effec tthat bock such would negate this spell?

No such effects in 4E.

Starfox,
Ta for the feedback mate :)

Fireball does 3d6 as lvl 5 spell
the level 9 spells do varying damage but have much more special effects or lingering duration, example:
Ice Storm is 2d8 damage + int modifier, and immobilizes (save ends), miss is half damage, zone also becoems difficult terrain. Same area of effect/range as Fireball.
