Shuriken question

First Post
If this question has already been asked and answered, I apologize.

I was creating my first rogue character last night, and I came across the weapon entry for shurikens. It has (5) in the entry. I don't see anything like this for any other weapon.

What does the (5) mean? Do you attack with 5 shuriken per round? If so, how do the mechanics work? Do you roll 5 separate attacks, then roll damage on each hit? Or do you roll one attack, and if it hits, roll damage 5 times?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

You get multiple of them because they get "used up", which is why you should get magical ones really. They never get used up and they return to your hand like a boomerang.

Wait, shuriken can't be reused? Where does it say that? I've been letting my group retreive their shuriken after the battles.....

It doesn't say that anywhere. They're light blades. You can retrieve them freely.

What that (5) really does is, it makes magic shuriken cheaper. You get 5 for the price of a sword, and they return as per the rules for magic throwing weapons.

The (5) just means that you get 5 when you buy them. You don't get 5 magical ones, just five normal ones. It means you don't have to walk across the battlefield to retrieve your shuriken every time you throw it, because you've got spares.

Well, they get used up in the sense that it probably won't be feasible to retrieve one during a fight, so you want to have some spares just so you can throw more than one per fight, even if you can get them all back at the end of the encounter.
