Sidewind Charging, driving me nuts.

Sounds very risky to me.

Not when you have a reach weapon. Can basic attacks still do sneak attack damage and does flanking give combat advantage?

If yes then this curve charging might be a good tactic for a rogue. Hide behind the fighter, change around him and stab the enemy with a reach weapon in the back, then use the movie action to move behind the fighter again.

Racist. We know where that leads.

Unless I'm missing a joke or if this is a reference to the mispelling of the word Japanese how is this racist? I believe he is refering to old style CRPG's like the earlier Final Fantasy series where your character would shuffle forward, swing their weapon, and shuffle back to their starting point. I've known a joke or two in reference to this has been made in my gaming circles, but I fail to see how that is racist, as Final Fantasy is, in fact, a Japanese produced game.

Then again I'm not the swiftest person in the bunch, so I'm probably missing something.

From what we know a rogue isn't able to sneak attack with a reach weapon. It may be possible by taking a feat or two. Unknown at this point.

I also have no idea what he means. Among PC gamers there is a more or less accepted distinction between western RPGs (Baldurs Gate) and asian RPGs (Final Fantasy) because despite being in the same genre they play very differently. And as the majority of the video games from Asia come from Japan one can also say Japanese RPGs to them.

Rogues can only sneak attack with certain weapons, and I don't believe any weapon with reach is included on that list.

You cannot disengage from an adjacent enemy and then charge the same enemy in the same turn without drawing an AoO.

Shifting only puts you 1 square away from your previously adjacent enemy. Charge states you have to move at least two squares and must occupy the square closest to you adjacent to the enemy, depending on the shift it would be either the square you were just in or one of the two adjacent to it.

Moving (not shifting) provokes AoO. It is the only way to get further than two squared away from the previously adjacent enemy using just your turn...

Yes but many people speculate that a feat will allow you to use other weapons. If not then you can expect a lot of complains about this limitation.

Just for visualization:

Start turn:
Code:
XXXXXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXMXXX
XXXFXXX
XXXXXXX
XXXRXXX

Charge:

Code:
XXXR5XX
XXXXX4X
XXXMX3X
XXXFX2X
XXXX1XX
XXXXXXX

Move back:
Code:
XXXX1XX
XXXXX2X
XXXMX3X
XXXFX4X
XXXX5XX
XXXRXXX

F = Fighter
M = Monster
R= Rogue
