I voted other. My friends and I decided that we have such an investment in books already that we would become grognards and keep playing 3.5, though we would buy the 4E books so we could play LG (assuming LG is still around).

I voted "I'm not leaning either way and will decide after evaluation", but the truth is that I doubt I will ever only play one edition of D&D again.

I will discuss it with my gaming group.

I will probably by the books, how quickly will depend on reviews posted here.
2 players will by the new books as soon as they are avalible, 2 will not, the last im not sure about. I won't change over the existing game - but the PCs are 8th level already and my games tend to end around 12th.

When 3.5 came out we continued playing 3.0 for a while (although using the new ranger for NPCs) then swiched DMs and the new guy ran a short 3.5 game. When I started again, it was a hybrid, in the same world, but on a different continent. My last enthusiastic change was to the XPH - when it came out 3.0 psionics was discarded quickly and totaly (except for the soulblades continued as a prestige class, although it was never actually used.)

I once made a list of how often the editions had changed, counting skills and powers as 2.5ed

I doubt LG will be gone, it's just too popular and developed. It might undergo a transformation over time.

I very much doubt I will ever buy another RPG book again. If I do, a new edition of D&D will not be one of them. Three is enough for me. :D

I picked "something else." After 3.5, I learned that I prefer 3.0; and have been running a 3.0 game recently. With 3.0, I can use Omega World and Judge Dredd. I couldn't read Star Wars Saga. I just don't have the inclination to learn another set of complex rules. I am even tempted to go back to Rifts after reading Machinations of Doom recently. Also, I really prefer Savage Worlds for runing games. All these factors probably mean that I won't be playing 4e.

I figured some time ago that 4e would be the end of it for me. Even though I have culled my collection to one shelf, I still have more material than I will ever use. Overall, I'll probably save a lot more money to put to other uses.

Assuming it's an actual new edition, then I plan on switching to 4E after I finish my current campaign (Savage Tide adventure path). I feel like I've seen all that 3.5 has to offer, and we're getting in to the "tack on new mechanics" phase of this edition. I remember that from 2E, and those were dark times indeed. :)

So I'll switch if 4E is truly a completely new edition with significant changes--I'm looking at you here, "Magic System". :) If it's just "D&D 3.75", then I'll buy the PHB just to keep up with the gaming community, but probably won't bother to switch my game over or evangelize the new edition to my friends.

I started with OD&D, pre-1st edition, pre-"boxed sets" or "beginner sets".

I dropped out when "1st edition" came out.

I came back for 3e.

I never made the switch to 3.5

I'll see you guys again around 6th or 7th edition. ;)

In the meantime, I have Ars Magica, 7th Sea/L5R, True20, and a few dozen other games to play...

I picked Definite, but with a bit of a caveat.

I know that at some point, I will use the system. I also intend to buy the books at about the time they come out. However, I do not expect to do so immediately.

When 3rd edition came out, I was not presently running or involved in a D&D campaign. It was a convenient time to upgrade. At the moment, it is quite probable that I will be running a game. Absent an overwhelming demand to change to a new ruleset, I expect to stick with my current rule set.
