Silly prestige classes.

The Oozemaster (Masters of the Wild, I think). What were they thinking? Dear God, what were they *thinking*?

Hey I think it's pretty cool. It's a 'way out' idea and the kinda thing I look for.

I usually dislike all prestige classes built around the theme of revenge, probably because they make me think... well, what are you going to do after you have avenged whatever? :p
From the way the classes usually work, it tends to be 'find someone else to be mad at.'

The ghostwalker from S&F. Like three-quarters of PCs aren't mysterious wanderers who don't fit into the social order anyway.

90% of the PrCs from Song & Silence. Fang of Lloth and Dungeon Delver are the two that stick out in my mind.

Forsaker from MotW. It was a cool idea to make a PrC based around the 1E barbarian's hatred of magic, but the end result is a little bizarre.

Weaponsmaster from Sword and Fist. It's so stupid, generic and boreing.

If you want to be a weaponmaster for a specific weapon you should have a prc devoted just to that weapon (or a highly flexible one). See lasher, Master of Chains, Order of the Bow Initiate, Sacred Fist etc. for well done Prs that fill a weaponmaster role with some style.

Trying to make one that works with any weapon is just silly and destroys any idea of flavor. It's a pure meta-game PrC as written.

"I'm a dagger master! I've dedicated my life to training with tiny thrusting weapons."
"I'm a fullblade master! I've dedicated my life to training with swords taller than I am."
"Hey, we can do all the same things..."
"Nice!"

.... stupid.

The Wayfarer from T&B. "Oh look, I can... teleport further!" *snort* It looks like something they crammed in for filler. Now, to be fair, it would have been a decent class if they'd added a few levels; there are plenty of things you could do with a class that revolves around teleportation and movement.

Candle Caster from Tomb and Blood.

I had to laugh when I read that post. It also could have been a decent class if done properly (emphasis on "if done properly".) Like many of WotC's early PrCs, if went over like a lead balloon.

That this is one of the coolest and most orginal classes to ever come out of a Wizards book? It captures the ooze, and ties it to the Druid. It makes great snese and is a lot of fun to play. Od all the silly prestige classes, this is not one.

The dragon disciple. There, I said it.

I mean....

Come ooooon!

PC1: Ok, so I'm a spellcaster...but I want to fly non-magically, have big, pointy claws, and get a bonus to strength...oooh! I want fire-breath too!

Any sane DM: Uhhh...did you drink from that mountain dew bottle under the sink? Cuzz that's where I keep my drain cleaner.

PC1: No, I'm serious!

PC2: <sarcasm> I want to...have a huge horn coming out of my forehead, and run around the forest!

PC3: <sarcasm> Oh, and I want to get really long and thin, and swim around, and eat people off of ships!

I'm beginning to think we should label any what's the ____est prestige class threads as approaching things from a "flavor" or "crunch" angle. The responses are always from different "what a PrC should be" viewpoints. :)

The Wayfarer is tied to a particular order of "transportation for hire" casters, if I remember right...a great example of a PrC that adds some oregano to a campaign setting, even if many adventurers would think twice about taking it. I don't see anything silly in it, personally. :)

I agree about the Oozemaster, Crothian. So much, that I was designing almost the very same class a few months before MoTW came out!

Candle Caster? Funky.

To each their own, I suppose. :)

Let's see...what can I think of...silly...silly...silly...the Gladiator PrC from S&F always made me laugh. I remember one of the abilities as something like "The Crowd Goes Wild!" and its text read something like: "Each round the audience gets more and more into your weapon display, etc, while you get bonuses". That's a pretty big mind-affecting thing goin' on there. ;)

End ramble. :)
