Simple and quick online rpging?

First Post
So last night it came up that we were short some players for a game and so I started calling up friends from out of the area to see if they wanted to jump into a game at the last minute.

It's been quite awhile since I'd last used an online rpg program, we used to use Kloogewerks, which was fine but a bit complicated.

Is there something out there that is stripped to the bone and easy to set up in just a couple of minutes?

All that is really needed is:

A white board to crudely sketch a scene
Token objects that can be moved around by anyone.

I know a lot of what is out there can do this, but we were just looking for something that was free, didn't require all sorts of installation hoops, like python, etc.

Something that could be set up and running within five minutes of a cold call for adventuring.

Is there anything out there like this yet? Just nearly effortless connecting and playing, not a lot of technical hoops to deal with or need to handhold less geeky friends through several stages of installations, log ins, etc?

I'm sure you probably looked at it, but Maptools is the VTT I've settled on (RPTools - Home). Requires java, but I don't consider that a "hoop" since I had it installed well before I started w/ Maptools; you may feel different.

You may want to check out the Battlegrounds link page. They've a pretty exhaustive list of links for rp tools (free vtt's included). Battlegrounds Links

Maptools is the awesome! As long as you know the macros and have them already written up you export/import them to the new players tokens and then take a minute to explain how to edit them to fit their particular PC.

Plus we use SKYPE so we can talk live to each other. Which also allows for use of video cameras, but only 2 of the people I play with have cameras.
