Sinister Spire(con't RBD)(Orsal Judging)

Lookspring lets out a low hiss. He darts forward and tugs at the back of Phoenix's leggings, then points up towards the ceiling. Once the danger has been brought to their attention, he backs up once more and waits for them to continue forward.

Phoenix ignites her mindblade and looks for the threat Lookspring was pointing out. She tells Rowan, "Watch it, hon. Trouble ahead and up high." She stops where she is and looks for a target, holding her sunrod high to try and see better.

At the urging of the others, Rowan looks up, and also draws his guisarme. The threat, however, is very well-hidden. I rolled an extra spot check at +4 because you knew the general direction to look, but you still saw nothing until...

...until three spider-web nets are thrown down, one at each of you.

Spiderweb #1 vs. Rowan: attack roll 20. Rowan is entangled.
Spiderweb #2 vs. Phoenix: attack roll 19. Phoenix is entangled.
Spiderweb #3 vs. Lookspring: attack roll 17. Lookspring is entangled.

See the SRD entry for entanglement. You are not immobilized, but fighting (among other things) will be at a penalty. You can try an Escape Artist check (DC 10) or strength check (DC 14) to get free, or can fight or move while entangled.

You now see the three monstrous spiders behind the web as they descend on you. They are bigger than spiders have any right to be, almost as big as Lookspring.

The spiders all attempt to bite, but all of you are protected by your respective armour, at least on the first try.
Spider 1 vs. Rowan: 10
Spider 2 vs. Phoenix: 12
Spider 3 vs. Lookspring: 8

Rowan's strength check: 20. He bursts the net confining him.
Phoenix...?
Lookspring...?

The web-throwing was from the surprise round; the attempted bites were round 1. Remember, Lookspring only heard something unidentifiable. Nobody saw them until the webs appeared, and nobody would have been able to act. So I treated that as surprise.

Round 2: you hear some yelling from farther in the cave, and moving toward you. Meanwhile, the spiders have each taken a position in melee with one of you, and continue to bite.
Spider attack rolls: 12,6,22. The only one penetrated by a spider bite is Lookspring, who takes 2 HP damage. Lookspring: please make a DC 10 Fort save.

Rowan swings his guisarme, landing a fatal blow on the spider attacking him. Attack 18, damage 11, one dead spider. "Got it!" he shouts. "Let's get the rest of them too!"

Phoenix and Lookspring...

All spiders are dead. Meanwhile, the yelling gets closer, although none of you can understand what anyone is saying.

Five creatures come into the sunrod's illumination range: two goblins, one dark elf, and two unfamiliar, drab-grey coloured humanoid creatures.

[sblock=Knowledge(nature DC 12)]The last two are grimlocks, a monstrous race of blind evil creatures. They fight ferociously; although they cannot see, their other senses enable them to find melee opponents as well as any sighted creature.[/sblock]

Not liking the odds, Lookspring readies to fire his bow at the newcomers if they show signs of hostility. Or until their backs are turned. He says in a low voice to Phoenix and Rowan. "Those other two are being Grimlocks. Not seeing at all, but still deadly. Odd mix of critters"
