Amidst the fleeing civilians, you all see a matronly woman drop a small bag of trash, draw a crossbow and fire a bolt at one of the impostor guards. Your surprise is heightened by the fact that it was fired with surgical aim and has pierced the neck of its intended target. The guard falls to the ground gargling up blood and twitching before going still.

Arnir cackles softly as Bannock gets out some of his rage on the hapless meatbag.

Maybe I won't make his ale taste like urine tonight....

Keenly aware of the danger specific to him and the other casters, he turns and ducks behind Torrent, but not before seeing an old haggard bag lady plant a bolt in the neck of one of the thugs. Pausing for a moment, the illusion fades for him, and Arnir sees.....Lars! Bow in hand, Arnir gives Lars a knowing wink, but declines to inform the rest of the group.
Clever bastard!

Once behind Torrent at I-14, he casts Mage Armor in order to better protect himself.

OOC: Arnir's weapon has been at the ready since the interaction Alric pointed out the impostors

Torrent, despite her fatigue, draws her axe and moves forward (to H17) to attack the closest impostor guard (at G18) but her attack misses the mark.

Kirio steps agains the North wall (G12), looks first to the poorly disgised guard that is now two thanks to Bannok's skill, and then to the still form on the ground, who's slowly spreading pool of blood seems to take the shape of wings unfurling. A sense of elhation overtakes him. It is as if time slows and a sparkling ball of energy rises up his spine to the base of his skull, and opens into a flowering sphere of wonderment... through the ending of lives he can feel his own and that of his partners shine all the brighter, and it is much as a melody, flowing in and around them as they strive to survive yet another obsitcal...

He raises his flute to his lips, an eery smile forming on his lips, and his eyes glow brightly green as he attempts to bring forth the melody that only he can so far hear...

OOC: perform check, Inspire Courage, a 4, he rolls a 4... sigh. Honestly not sure if I have to target one specific ally, or if it affects the party. If I have to target, if affect Hrimr, +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

Hrimr is impressed by Bannock's mighty swing and cringes a bit as he sees the blade swipe clean through the guard. Since Arnir appears to have decided to hide behind Torrent and Bannock Hrimr turns to help Alric and Lars with the three guards troubling them. He moves forward just a bit and speaks a few words in Dwarven. In his raised hang another acid dart appears and he throws it at the guard directly in front of him with a yell.

OOC: 5ft movement to I12, cast acid dart

GM: Kirio, Inspire Courage affects all of your allies that can hear your song (so the whole party) and you do not need to make a perform check. You only need to make a perform check for certain songs. If you look through the list of songs, you'll see which ones require the check and which do not. So, the whole party is benefiting from your Inspire Courage (+1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls)
.

Hrimr, your attack is bolstered by Kirio's inspiring song. The dart strikes your target in the chest and the acid eats it way through cloth, metal and flesh. He clutches at the wound that belches acrid smoke, cries out and falls dead to the icy ground.

The thug at J5 skirts around the outside of Alric's threatened area and steps up behind him in order to give his ally at H7 some flanking support (his specific route was J5 - J9, J9 - I10, I10 - H9). Additionally, surprised at the sudden crossbow attack from behind, they both take quick glances at the death-dealing bag lady: "Who's the broad!?" one yells before they both try to stab Alric with their short swords. The thug standing behind Alric drives his blade into his lower back, splitting chain links and drawing a deep gash in his flesh.

On the other end of the street, the thug at I19 takes a hesitant 5-ft step to H18, careful not to step on the entrails of his now dead and split friend. He draws a sap and works with his ally at G18 to attack Torrent. One thug's attack is deflected by her shield, but the other manages to strike Torrent across the temple, staggering her slightly.

The thug at J18, takes a courageous 5-ft step towards Bannock (to J17), allowing him to slip past the reach of the glaive. He then attempts to stab Bannock in the ribs with his short sword, but the blade glances harmlessly off chainmail.

Street Ambush - Round 2

GM: Everyone remember to apply the benefits of Kirio's Inspiring Courage song to your attack and damage rolls!

Street Ambush - Round 2

Initiative and Status

1 - Alric (taken 8 damage)
2 - Bannock
3 - Lars
4 - Arnir
5 - Torrent (taken 3 non-lethal damage)

Street Ambush - Round 2

Alric grits his teeth in pain at the wound the thug caused. He's hurt. And blood leaks from the wound to stain his chainmail and grey cloak. He's hurt, but it didn't slow him any.

OOC: Alric takes a 5ft step to G9 and attacks the thug in H9.
