Six From Gate Pass - A War of the Burning Sky Campaign (3.5)

Hrimr, your pick catches the horseman in the side of the neck, just as he turns to follow you out of the foliage. In a gurgle of blood, he drops his sword in the snow and falls down dead.

Bannock, seeing the damage inflicted on Alric by the armored greatsword-wielding Ragesian, steels his resolve and focuses a strengthened hatred for this man. He steps into range and his glaive snaps out in hopes of landing a blow.

OOC: Step into H-7, activate Blade of the Resistance on enemy in F-8, power attack on F-8. Not sure if this counts as flanking given the ranges, please modify the results if so. I will not add a flanking bonus

OOC: Ummmmm... ignore the 5d20!

Bannock, your attack is turned away by your target's thick plate armor.

Spying the killing crossbow shot from the cliff, the horse archer trains his bow on Lars and lets fly. The aim is true and despite Lars' cover, the arrow catches the young rogue in the shoulder, wedging deep into the flesh, blood pouring from the almost-lethal wound. He then quickly nocks another arrow and attempts to skewer Arnir, but the arrow is lost amidst the crowded melee on the road.

The remaining half-orc scout notices that Torrent only has a wand in her hand, so he drops his crossbow and dashes out of the snowy brush (to D8). On the way he draws a sap and strikes at the back of Torrent's head once in a flanking position. Given the swirl of combat, the attack goes wide clipping only the breeze.

Battle in the Mountain Pass - Round 5

Arnir screams in frustration as his arrow bounces off the rider's helm, but has another notched and ready to go. As the arrow shrieks towards its target and connects, Arnir shouts with joy and is completely consumed by a powerful lust for blood. He turns to the scout with a wild look and thinks to himself
You're next, you rotten son of a whore!

He is barely aware of the state of the rest of the party.

Arnir, your ensorcelled arrow flies directly along the path of your previous shot. With a foul screech it tears through the air and drives into the horse-archer's eye. His face collapses into his skull from the force of the shot. Blood, teeth and brain matter fall down his chest. Like a ripe melon falling and splattering on the ground, what remains of his head pours out of the helmet and his body falls from his horse.

"This day is turning out rather bloody" Kirio aims his bow and the Greatsword weilding maniac (F8), hopping to slow the bastard down...

OOC: not good

Alric gasps in amazement and terrible fright more than pain and internal damage. In all his years soldiering and working as a mercenary, he has never been wounded more grievously.

He looks at Kathor now with thoughts of flight flitting through his mind. His massive armored form with the bloody greatsword looms ominously in front of him as if it is death taken mortal form and here to collect his soul.

Yet he remembers who he is, why he fights and knows in his heart, it is not my time. So, he lifts his sword to an even stance and hefts his great oaken tower shield and spits through the blood pooling in his mouth, "You'll have to do better than that you tin-plated bafoon!"

OOC: Alric attacks Kathor. No movement this round. Oh for the love of...

Victory in the Mountain Pass!

Kathor, now surrounded by foes, widens his eyes as the mutilated body of the mounted archer falls to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

He sees the defiance in Alric's eyes and knows that another warrior stands behind him with a deadly polearm. More than that, two elves with longbows now have only one large metallic target at which to direct their shots.

He raises his sword above his head for what appears to be a devastating attack. Instead, he drives the point of the blade into the frozen earth and removes his hands from the sword that sways slightly after being suspended in the ground. He cries out to the scout: "By the flaming pits of the Abyss man, this fight is lost. Renard has fallen and this band is done. Drop your arms ... we surrender!"

He rips the armband from his arm with a sneer and tosses it into the wind before drawing a finely made short sword and dropping it before him. The scout follows suit, throwing away his sap and the morningstar at his hip.

"Honour demands a parlay," Kathor says, "so stay your blood lust."

GM: We're off initiative

Lars, in shock from the arrow stuck in his shoulder, feels his head spin. He confusedly understands that the fight is over and the he likely won't die just yet.

He stumbles to his feet and fights nausea as he rejoins the others below.
