Six From Gate Pass - A War of the Burning Sky Campaign (3.5)

Hrimr, the crow is still perched on some nearby rocks.

Torrent looks through the assembled gear and scratches her head while she thinks. After a moment or two she offers up the following thought: "Does anyone else find it strange that they have no food or water, let alone any feed for the horses?"

"A camp? Possibly nearby? Astute observation Torrent! A camp, protected or not might provide useful spoils. Does anyone have the skills to track the horse tracks back to their origin?"

"More of the bastards...?!?" Again Kirio rubs the bridge of his nose... He looks approvingly at Torrent "Very observant indeed Torrent. I'm no tracker, but I can move quietly if I need to. Be good to know there isn't 15 more of the bastards on our trail."

Hrimr begins to cast a spell. As he finishes the spell there is no visible change to him or his surroundings. He looks up to where the crow is and begins to squawk like a crow.

[sblock="For anyone who speaks crow"] "I am sorry about your Master. Despite what he and his band tried to do to us he didn't not deserve to be murdered standing cold and naked in the snow. I would see no harm come to you. You are alone out here and it is the dead of winter. If you like you can come with me. I will feed you in exchange for helping me scout the area around us. What do you say?" [/sblock]

OOC: Wild Empathy roll = d20 + Druid Level + Cha

The crow cocks its head to the side as it listens. It stares at the dwarf and snaps its beaks a few times before cawing in return.

[sblock="if you speak crow"]Liar. You walk with murderers. Your friends killed my master. The bond is broken. Bother me not.[/sblock]

[sblock="If you speak Crow"] "I understand, some of them have no honour. I cannot control how they act. My offer still stands. Good luck."[/sblock]

Hrimr walks back to the group.

"Is anyone still wounded? I have a healing spell memorized. We can save a charge from Torrent's wand"

After fainting, Lars is much more subdued. He looks tired.

When Alric asks after someone able to follow tracks, Lars laughs and says, "This is the only the second time I've ever been outside Gatepass. I've never really been in a forest."

Hrimr hears Lars mention tracking and has a look around. The ground has snow on it so there should be easy to spot tracks. However, a Ranger is the best person to have when following tracks.

OOC: Can I attempt to track without the Tracking feat? I believe I have the highest Survival in the group.

Hrimr, there are a bunch of horse tracks in plain sight on the snowy road. The tracks obviously belong to the 4 horsemen who charged into the pass a few minutes ago, but they appear to lead back around a bend in the road.

GM: You can use Perception to locate tracks, but you need Survival to follow them or to "track" someone. You don't need the feat since we're using the Pathfinder skill set (which allows anyone to track without the need for the feat). If its a skill question please review the Pathfinder SRD as it should clear up any straightforward questions.

"I am some skill in tracking things in the wild."

Hrimr points down the road which the horses came.

"Obviously they came from that direction, but you can see they lead back around the bend over there. I can attempt to track them back to their camp."

OOC: What time of day is it?
