Skills and multiple classes

How do you handle raising skills when you possess more than one class with different skill lists? For example, if I am a Ranger at level one, and then take a level of Fighter. If I want to raise a skill that is on the Ranger's skill list but not the fighters, do I still treat it as a cross class skill? If so, does the normal maximum (1/2 class skill max) still apply?

Yes, it's a cross-class skill (so costs double points per rank); no, the cross-class cap doesn't apply. If a skill is a class skill for any of your classes, its cap is your total character level +3, just like with class skills. The exception is for skills exclusive to a class, like Use Magic Device, which will cause your brain to turn to mush if you try to figure them out.

You pay for it as a cross-class skill, but the limit is as if it was a class skill, unless it is an exclusive skill.
If it is an exclusive skill, like Animal Empath, you may only raise it when you level up in the class it pertains to, and the maximum is your relevant class level +3.
