Slavery, Rape, Madness and War!

He can and does make objections to who owns the slave and how he is treated, but the idea of freeing the slave makes no sense to him.

Er...not tracking.

Having obligations or duties is not the same as slavery, i.e. being the legal or de facto property of another human.

A LG character might abhor slavery because the only Master is the One True God, for example.

I'd assume, also, that in a Lawful society, slavery would have to be orderly and predictable. You can't have a stable, lawful place if pretty much anyone can become a slave should a slaver cast an eye on them. There would be strict rules about who could be a slave, how (if at all) a slave could be freed, and so forth.
That sounds like ancient Greece or Rome -- or even medieval Europe, if we consider serf slaves.

LG slaves

"A LG character might abhor slavery because the only Master is the One True God, for example."

A difference without meaning. Our LG expects the orders of that One True God or whatever to be obeyed, and those orders cover all possible actions and situations. He might not be called a slave, but he acts like one. And when others refuse to obey these orders, our LG deems himself justified in making them obey.

I can't tell whether you're really misunderstanding or only pretending to for the troll value, so I'll skip trying to clarify.

I only run CoC these days, so the role of madness in my game is pretty obvious. ;)

This is incorrect. Women provoke violence and inflict it on men in quite large numbers of cases. A minority to be sure, but a distinctly large one.
Our feminists got all upset a few years back about cops going to a domestic dispute and just leaving after telling everybody to hold down the racket. So they got laws passed requiring the cops make an arrest of the guilty party. They have been quite unhappy to find that about 1/3 of those arrested were female.
The cartoon character Maggie has a lot of real world sisters.

Women provoke violence? Then why is there no female Stalin or Hitler or Saddam or Roman general or... you get the idea. We have woman murderers and the like, but they are just a blip compared to the thousands of murders in this country. Give me a GOOD example and I don't mean a "slight" mass murderer this side of Andrea Yates. Or Valerie Solanas (an uber-feminist that shot Andy Warhol).

(If that "serial sniper" was female, I'd be eating my words...) :D

Anything 1960s and up is generally the exception to the rule. The feminist movement, as well as its offshoots, makes that big exception to the rule. Sadly, about 40 years will not make up for 5,000 (more if you put the humans' ancestors into the equation.)

If you're referring to Maggie from The Simpsons shooting Mr. Burns, that part was just a "gimmick" to surprise us. We all thought it was Waylon Smithers or Homer Simpson. (If this isn't the Maggie you're talking about, correct me if I'm wrong.)

BTW, "large minority" sounds contradictory. They are still exceptions to the rule.

Entirely rare. Either sex can dream of revenge, and sometimes achieve it, but for most of us most of the time, the bully wins.

But yeah, I get the second point.

.

Three words....

Elizabeth of Bathory

Shall I go on?

Valarie Solanis was no more an "uber-feminist" than you are, son. She was a nutcase.

Elizabeth Bathory was not unusual for nobles of her time, as far as being cruel to servants; but she added being a sadist on top of that. (No, she did not actually bathe in the blood of virgins.)

Anyone who thinks there could be no "female Hitler or Stalin" should go look back at the records of the concentration camps and the gulags. Women Nazis and Stalinists were every bit as feared as their male counterparts. Sometimes more so.

There is a statistical reason why FBI profiling anticipates that a serial killer will be white male - they are in the majority. Female mass murderers (spree or serial) are sufficiently rare (statistically) that they need not be anticipated in criminal investigation until further evidence warrants.

However, rpg worlds are not bound by IRL limitations. What does that mean for our campaigns? Has anyone had an npc villain who was a female version of Genghis Khan or Attilla the Hun? How about Adolphine Hitler? Or Josephine Stalinka(sp?)?

Here's a question, how do you have a female mass murderer villain who doesn't descend into classic "femme fatale" mode? That's a challenge for a DM.

Hhmmm....keep an eye on my story hour in coming weeks, you may see my attempt at such an npc.

Greetings!

Hmmm...well, I'm not quite sure what people are arguing, but I have seen FBI/National Law Enforcement reports that have discovered that something like 40% of domestic violence is in fact instigated by and equally participated in by women. Thta doesn't in any way excuse violent men, of course, but the evidence that I have seen has shown for a fact that women not only are involved in domestic violence, but are also effective at it, and they are also quite capable of manipulating the law enforcement, social services, and court systems to their advantage against the men they are involved with. I think it is all quite sad, and very tragic, but it has been shown that women are involved, and they do share some of the blame in domestic violence.

As for other studies, they have shown that men are statistically dominant in both the number and frequency of geniuses and higher intelligence, as well as mass murderers. Men seem to encapsulate both extremes of the spectrums, whereas women tend to fall more in the middle.

Just some thoughts though.:)
