Seeing Opale's reaction to the east, Planus says while knocking his bow, "There's at least one on the west as well."

Jack draws his bow and nocks an arrow.
"There's at least five to the west," Jack corrects in a tone similar to what he would use if someone were to miscount the fingers on their own hand. "Watch out, they're sneaky."
Initiative 1d20+4=12
If the kobolds lose initiative to Jack, he readies an action to fire as arrow at the first kobold he sees from the west come within 30'. Otherwise, he will simply shoot an arrow at any kobold he has a clear shot at, giving preference to those that are already wounded.
Longbow +6, 1d6 (+1d6 Sneak Attack, when applicable)

Veras-Re sneers in contempt of the ambushers, narrowing his filmed eyes and showing his yellowed teeth through his scraggly beard. He tightens his grip upon his walking stick as he reaches deep within himself and taps the psionic power therein to reinforce his sturdy frame with mental Vigor. Of outward evidence, there is none except for the Dwarf's focused stare into nothingness.
It would appear that they saved the Elves the trouble of tracking them down
