Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

Wait, why would a dragon assume a human form when everyone he knows to be watching believe him to be a dragon? They usually are vain, and besides, it really would make it easier for him and the kobolds to take the place over. If it is a mage shifting into a dragons form, than he is probably fairly strong. If I recall, though, you could get the look with very basic illusions.

"Now, honey, you'll have to understand one thing, there is no way to understand dragon nature. It is a case by case thing. There have been all kind of dragon, even stupids and fools ones. But staying in human form could allow to fool some detection spells. Maybe it is the reason he stay in human form, but it is just a guess.

I think we will know more about Eskaron if we learn why he is doing this. It isn't like that Grenton have any interesting thing to control. Why controlling a small town like this and trying to hide it?"

Farid ponders for a bit, "Maybe he's hungry, and a town's sacrifice will bring him food? A town any larger and he'd attract attention of other people."

Veras-Re Dwarf Psion

Veras-Re did not expect the planning to take this long. But then, they are weighing their lives against an unknown threat. Better prepared and alive than swift and dead. thought the Dwarf.

If this should take any longer, we should conference in the abandoned tower. Easier to watch.

"The elf's right. From the perspective of intimidating a small village into submission, it makes a lot more sense for a human to be masquerading as a dragon, than vice versa. The only point for a dragon to look like a human would be to blend in with the crowd... But everybody already knows full well that this Eskaron fellow is a sometimes-dragon, so why bother with the human pretense? It'd save trouble to just stay a dragon."

Katherine shrugs. "From the point of veiw of fighting it, it may not matter so much - a weak dragon or a powerful wizard will call for roughly the same battle plan - staying spread out so neither a breath weapon nor spall can target all of us at once and removing his minions first if possible so that we can focus all our attentions on the greater threat.

"If I may make a suggestion on the latter aspect - Jack, if the group who was in the wilderness gives you general directions, do you think you could scout out the enemy's location and a good ambush spot far enough away to not draw more help, but close enough that they wouldn't get tired of chasing? If so, Planus, should he be willing to take the risk, can cast his spell of fleetness and lead as many of the underlings as possible to us. Then we can take on the main group of them, hopefully with Quarion's spell keeping any reamining kobalds out of trouble while we gang up on he who may or may not be a dragon...." She glances around at the others for buy in or suggestions.

"I'd also say that if we can get a group of the kobalds alone, we should endevor to defeat them by purely mundane means - if the other spellcasters here are like myself, your m gic can only be used so much before a night of rest, and we should save those resources which are limited for the greater fight."

and besides being imho a decent tactic, there's a chance some of us can level before taking on the big bad.

Planus puffs out his chance a bit as Jack announces that "The elf's right", conveniently not noticing that Jack was referring to Rika.

After Katherine finishes speaking, he says while pointing a scolding finger at everyone, "And we know they are on the dragon's side now so no holding back."

"Yes" agree Opale with Jack "Most likely to be a wizard. I just hope he is an illusionist of some sort, not a transmuter. And Katerine is right, I've already start to use up my spells, and I am a bit ill prepared to meet a dragon. I'm more prepared to do some investigation or fight kobolds."

Quarion Holimion, Elven Druid 1

"If we can get a group of kobolds on their own, good, we should kill the creatures. We should have killed them before. For all we know, Jakub may be dead and the caravan commandeered by the foul things. But that is in the past. For now, we must worry about stealth. If we eliminate small groups of kobolds, even one group, then Eskaron will notice their absence. Assuming it is a dragon, they seldom miss anything that 'belongs' to them. We should do this quietly and quickly. That is all."
