Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

"You're crazy? You want to surprise attack a dragon." Opale starts to clap her hands. "I think we should think of another option."

OOC: Does Opale knows what the black eyes mean?

While Quarion is talking, Planus quietly mumbles "There were 20 to 30 if you count the humans." By the end of Quarion's speech, Planus is smiling again at the chance to unlimber his bow.

I did not say that the black eyes meant he was a dragon. All it tells us is that he's shapeshifted. Could be a dragon, could be a mage. As for the suprise attack, we have to kill the 'dragon' somehow and its better if we can strike the first blow than if we fight on his terms. Does anyone have any way to take out a bunch of kobolds at once?

"I think that the entangling spell that Quarion used before would be our best bet for that." Katherine suggests. She glances around the group considering. "Does anyone have a spell to make them more fleet of foot? Perhaps we could lure some of the kobalds into an ambush and even up the odds before taking on the main group. As for attacking what may or may not be a dragon..." she shrugs. "If we are going to do it, we do it. I can make everyone's blows land a little harder with my speeches, we can try to be ranged around him so that he cannot target us all at once, and I have a healing wand to help any who are injured and allow Planus and Quarion to focus their magics on the offense. Combine that with winnowing down the kobald defenders and hopefully restricting the movement of those who remain, and I think we have a reasonable plan."

Considering a moment longer, she adds "I have a bit of skill in tracking myself, if you like I can take a look at the tracks too and see if I can add anything to what they tell us."

ooc: Bardic Knowlege +3 (next level it'll be +6! go XP!) is Katherine aware of any legend s of dragon activity in this area?

Veras-Re, Dwarf Psion

Veras-Re had little to contribute to the party, beyond being another target and another swordarm. Of the magicks he knew, there were only three: sensing, fortifying and killing. Only the last two would be of any use for the battle and none of these directly aided anyone else besides himself. Besides his Killing Thought power, there are also his walking stave and his dagger. Once again, the lack of a crossbow pains the Dwarf with regret.

He grunts, seconding Katherine's plan.

Katherine:
[sblock]The one thing about dragons you quite clearly remember relate to a certain Rupert, who previously hired you. Dragons used to be prevalent one time here, but for centuries, no dragon had been sighted within 300 miles of Orussus.[/sblock]

Opale:
[sblock]You know that black dragons have dark orbs for eyes, but they aren't noted for shapechanging powers. You also know that a number of shapeshifters, such as lycanthropes, retain a few characteristics of their alternate form.[/sblock]

"If we take Eskaron, whatever he is, we better take him alone. I don't know how easy it would be, but if he is a wizard, he will have difficulty to defend himself alone. If he is a dragon, we will have enough trouble with him, no need to have kobold over that. If it is something else... well, one enemy is better handled than a group."

With everyone gathered here, there's no longer any real reason for Jack to keep an eye on the town. Instead, he stands aside, and waits patiently for those who enjoy talking to wear out their collective breath over the formulation of some semblance of a battle plan.

Wait, why would a dragon assume a human form when everyone he knows to be watching believe him to be a dragon? They usually are vain, and besides, it really would make it easier for him and the kobolds to take the place over. If it is a mage shifting into a dragons form, than he is probably fairly strong. If I recall, though, you could get the look with very basic illusions.
