The villagers in the house scream as they see the door open, hardly noticing that the small creature visible against the fire is a halfling, not a kobold, but slowly, Jack's words penetrate some people's heads - including Jeline's and Marl's, who urge the others to do as Jack says. A few indeed rush out, and Jeline rushes to reach the barn, but for now, fear seems to dominate.
Farid reaches the fire, and shoves two of the torches deeper into the it, while Veras-Re feels his body empowered by his mind. Katherine begins her speech to inspire her allies, and Rika runs towards the fire as well (attacking a kobold, or ridding away torches?).
Thanyvan also rushes towards the fire, taking care of two more torches. The kobold who alerted the rest is scratched by Opale's bolt.
The kobolds on the carts spur the horses into gallop, and start to ride out of town, while the four other kobolds rush towards the fire and pick up a torch each. One of them moves by Rika, but manages to dodge her rapier.
