Slaves of the Dragon (orsal judging)

Katherine ceases her oration (effects remain for 5 rounds) and moves quickly towards the angry and confused group, her strong voice cutting clearly through the chaos. "Stop, all of you! Quarion was only trying to get you out of this fight! We came here to help you, if not you would be burning alive!"

ooc: -10 penalty for a rushed dimplomacy check still does pretty well. If the last kobald is taken down by her next initiative, Katherine will help form a bucket line to put out marl's barn and make a fuller diplomacy check (at +15) to attempt to convince the townsfolk that the group has meant well and that all will be better in the end (especially once the group tracks down and defeats the dragon and brings back all their stuff.)

Jeline looks at Quarion furiously and yells "Are you adventurers all crazy? The forest is where the rest of the kobolds are!"

"Then forget about the forest, stop beating the elf, and put the goddam fire out instead," Jack yells at her in exasperation at the continual farce.

He lunges again with a deceptive double thrust of his sword and dagger at the fire hurling kobold. The kobold almost sidesteps the dagger, only to move straight into the path of the sword. The inspiring words of Katherine keep his blades on target.

5' step to R17, full attack on kobold #4.

Rapier attack = 19, damage = 4
Dagger attack = 15, damage 3

EDIT: Oops, forgot to take into account the +1 atk/dam from Katherine's Inspire Courage.

"Don't yell at me, help me calm them, you hero!" Jeline yells back at Jack, busy getting the villagers away from Quarion. "It's not my fault the elf made this mistake. Do you guys ever think before talking?"
Meanwhile, Jack dispatches the last kobold. Katherine manages to calm the mob piling on Quarion and Jeline, while the remaining villagers run out of Marl's house. Slowly, a bucket line is formed, putting out the fire on Marl's house, then the fire on the marketplace.

Planus takes a shot at the driver, dropping him despite of a small amount of cover he had. The horses don't stop yet, though.
(Anyone else taking care of the wagons?)

Planus pumps a fist in the air as his shot flies true. He continues his sprint after the other drivers, figuring the horses won't get very far on their own. Any time he has the chance, he will stop and launch an arrow at a driver until all the drivers are down. His confidence is strengthed by the memory of Katherine's song even though he can no longer hear her.

If he gets more than 500 feet from town, he will stop and try to round up any carts with dead drivers.

"Calm yourselves, fools! Your deaths are near and you attack the ones who have come to save you? Get 'em off of me!" Quarion lets his high and mighty, elven accented Common slack in his frustration as he struggles to get the villagers off of him. He is tempted to call Garma over, but he decides against it. The wolf continues to rip and tear at scaly flesh with his teeth.

As the firefighting efforts begin, Katherine says to jack and quarion, "I'll help with the fire, see fi you can help planus stop the wagons, but if one gets away it will be that much easier to track them, so don't kill yourselves..."

"Most of us?... Not normally, no." Jack admits, and then whistles high and loud to call Rover in from hiding. "Personally, I just try to keep my fool mouth shut, if I can help it. I don't get hired to talk."

(little bump)

Assuming the fires are successfully exstinguished, and depending on how many wagons jack and planus can stop/retrieve, the party should start following the wagons. Katherine and any other tracker(s) in the group can go first (wagons shouldn't be terribly hard to follow, but you never know) with Jack shadowing them off to the side and looking out for any kobalds who doubled back to ambush us. (tracking/survival +5)

Before they leave, Katherine stands on the returned wagon and exhorts the townsfolk. "We are going after the kobalds and their so called dragon lord to bring back the rest of your belongings, and to make sure that you are never troubled again! I know that your lives under the Dragon were simpler, and perhaps in some ways safer. The lives of slaves are often such. But as you have seen, the lives of slaves are cheap to their masters and burned away when no longer useful. Perhaps we do not have the right to choose the risks of freedom for you. But you do not have the right to choose a life of slavery for your children!" Her voice softens and she speaks a sincear promise. "We did not come here to cause a little trouble for the sake of 'adventure' and leave you to clean up the mess. We will follow this through to the end and cut off the very head of the snake that troubles you. Trust us, and trust your own strength and freedom." (ooc: diplomacy +15, Perform oratory +7)
