Slightly OT: Yea Gods I'm too powerful for my level!!

How did the DM give it to you? As a background item your character started with? Did your party beat up a high gorgon after it had gone three rounds with a wrack dragon? Did you find it on an orc commoner who threatened you with pies?

If it really bothers you then talk to him, but unbalanced games can be fine if the PCs are OK with that style of play. If there are real challenges and you are constantly going against things 4 CR above your level, or 10 levels above and you are expected to run even with the ring, then take advantage of the ride and enjoy. You might be the equal of a character 3 levels higher in terms of firepower, but your stats and hps have not gone up so you are not made invulnerable here.

I guess my only piece of advice for my fellow Scarred Lands guy is to be careful how you bring it up to the GM. We all know how protective we get over the craft sometimes, and if someone infers that you're not running the game right (well-intentioned or not), feathers can get ruffled. I'm sure you have a tactful approach planned out, but I just wanted to throw out the reminder.

And of course, if things go really bad, you can always slide a few states over to NC and start up a new campaign.

I pray it doesn't come to that. (Though if I do come to NC, I'm crashing with you Ruined. )

Voad, I just got it. I was teleported to talk to a powerful wizardress that apparently was from my mother side. (The DM I guess decided the whole "bloodline" thing was neat and thus did a Dune thing with it.) So blam I got the ring for my troubles and ability to negioate I guess.

Voad, so far I've barely gotten into combat mainly because a) I was in a raiding party of drow. b) said raiding party had a 14th level cleric (I was 3rd at the time) c) Because of an old 1st edition effect, I thought I was a drow and did a pretty horrible job there. (Much better being a slight obsequious if potent soon to be sorcerer.) So so far I've not had much chance to unleash much arcane blasting.
