I enjoyed it, lots of good stuff in this one, the divid between Lana and Clark and her bad side. Lois. Green Arrow and Clark discussing the hero business, if you can't have Batman the Green Arrow is a very good chioce.

To the casual viewer they are almost the same though.

Yep, Arrow just lacks the intensity (for lack of a better word) that Batman seems to have, it fits better with the nature of the show, than Batman would. Clark and Batman would be at each others throats, Clark and Arrow can kid around, relax and have fun.

You can't take Batman anywhere, he is always going "I'm BATMAN!"

Does anyone know the reason why Bruce/Batman couldn't be on smallville. I mean the right to both are owned by Warner Bros. The CW is partly onwned by Warner.
Main reason is that the rights to the character were tied up in making Batman Begins. Hence, Bruce is pretty much forbidden.

As for the superhero get-together in the article referenced by Hand of Evil, the ones that are coming back in episode #11 (appropriately titled "Justice") are Kid Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman (i.e. heroes that have showed up on Smallville before), and I believe the Angel of Vengeance chick. It would be cool to see at least one new hero/heroine in the mix.

I just figured they are all owned by the same parent company, it wouldn't be a problem.

I think it was for marketing reasons, not legal ones, that Batman was sort of off limits. Especially since Batman Begins was an origins story.

You would think so but that's not always the case. Both Marvel and DC have been guilty in the past of selling off character rights peicemeal, then having to sit back and watch as other companies fought over claims to their own characters. (The huge rights tangle over who had film (as opposed to TV/book/magazine/etc) right to Spider-Man kept any possible movie in limbo for many years; similarly, the Kebler anti-drug promotional couldn't use Robin as a member of the Titans because Robin was licensed to a rival company at the time).

Marvel cleaned up their act in an impressive sweep of deal making that brought all their characters (as far as I know) back under their wing. DC has only just begun to learn that lesson.

I greatly enjoyed the show, which is something I have not done for some time. Finally seeing someone in mask and costume doing superhero-y things? Oh, yeah. I'm hoping for some excellent rating on this season just for the possibility of heroic series spin-offs.

Well I guess once again I'm alone - I don't like evil Lana.

In fact last season I loved when she was killed, but mad when she was brought back. I'm tired of her character. I would take Johnathan Kent over Lana any day. I don't care how hot Kristen Kreuk is.

And I wish they have Lionel pick a side he's on and stick to it. The "I'm evil"/"I'm good"/"I'm evil"/"I'm good" stuff is overplayed.

Now I liked the whole Green Arrow bit. Deciding what is right and wrong is no longer so easy for Clark.
