Smallville.....

Prediction:

Lana will be possessed by the spirit of the "witch" warrior-maiden ancestress from France, while Chloe and Lois will be possessed by other witches from the same region (thus, they are all distant kin). As usual, Clark will have to save the day. This will set things to right between Chloe, Lana, and Clark, as well as further indebt Lois to Clark.

My feeling is that Lionel is only lying about his lost memory. He probably has some plan up his sleeve. However, I do think its possible that Clark's soul being in his body imprinted his goodness in some way.

The whole Clark beating the inmate in Lionel's body and the cured liver also seems to imply that Superman's powers aren't just with his body, they are a part of his soul.

At first Lionel's body was weak, but having Clark's soul in his body supercharged it a bit. The liver healed and his strength and fitness began to increase to the point where he could take out the inmate.

I have a suspicion that now Lionel will be pretty strong and fast. Not superhuman, but basically like he was a young man again. And his body will be in perfect health.

I wonder if he will still be the villain or if he will start becoming more of a good guy. Wouldn't it be ironic if Lionel becomes good as Lex begins to become increasingly evil? Perhaps a change of heart from Lionel is ultimately what drives Lex toward evil.

I'm also guessing Lionel has more than a professional appreciation for Martha Kent, after what happened when Lionel-in-Clark hugged Martha.
That shouldn't be news, really. He had a thing for her when she was his assistant.

I wonder how Clark will patch things up with Chloe and Lana now. I mean, he doesn't have any friends left at school now I guess - Pete left, the people on the football team probably won't look too kindly on him after first signing up, stealing all the glory, and then quitting, and he totally alienated Lana and Chloe. The only one left now is, basically, Lex.
He'll patch things up. This show is pretty good but tends to clean things up too easily. It's no Buffy/Angel or anything like when it comes to long lasting consequences.

No offence, man - but duh. The foreshadowing/cycle is thicker than gravy.

No kidding? Interesting.

I actually didn't read your whole spoiler, Hal. Just the first sentence or so. I try to stay away from them (fan site stuff I mean) as they are typically real spoilers rather than speculation. :)

My thoughts: Lionel is still an SOB, he was referring only to physical benefits. He also remembers everything from the swap.

Something I keep wondering about is whether Lionel will somehow end up with Lex's body. The body-swap gizmo could facilitate this, or it could be something completely new. It lets Lex stay basically good, even if he ends up dying.

Which I think is a huge reason not to do this. It's a cop out that lets the writers completely avoid all of the tension the series has built up. One of the main draws (for me, at least) in this show is seeing Lex's evolution - his struggle against the "inner darkness" as he calls it. If they solve the struggle by making lex a different person, I for one will feel quite cheated.

Agreed.

The beauty of the Clark/Lex relationship is that we KNOW how it turns out. We know that Lex's goes evil and becomes Superman's Nemesis. We know that Clark becomes Superman. The fun is how we get there.

Lionel remembers everything before the transference, yet, nothing of during or after it.
Remember the tears (more like weeping to me, something I could never see Lionel properly acting out before) in his eyes as Clark was in silhouette... I think Lionel has had a real 'alignment shift' as phrased in an earlier post.
He will try to make amends in some way for the wrongs he has done. This sets up something delicious with Lionel confessing something to Lex which forever drives him over the edge (something about Mom perhaps?).

Lionel/Clark beat down - Remember Lionel was keeping in shape season opener. Most likely to, at least briefly, ward off the effects of the bad liver. Who knows what Lionel was into before prison. Akido was visible in Lionel/Clarks moves... muscle memory together with the 'spiritual aspect' (mentioned earlier post) of Clarks powers 'could' account for his smacking around the inmate.

Lex never put down the gun before welcoming back Clark.

Very good ep. for me.
