Smashed World, part III

Make a check when you've grown one? Get real :p
The MM isn't exactly plentiful with this kind of information, but I'm going to guess from the way all the dire animals are depicted as feral, angry and dangerous, that they're carnivorous. So your dire bat eats anything small and living: fish, small birds, rats, normal bats, very big bugs or lots and lots of smaller ones. Or you could feed him rations, though he'll need two to be fully satiated.

"Well... I do have enough, for six horses and a mule for that time... but it'll mean I'd need to sell you some of what I'm holding for my own mules, and if my supplies will be late, they might starve. So it'll cost you more, so I can pay some speed extra for my supplier."

"Fair enough friend, fair enough." Lorcan replies to the merchant's words. "After all, it would be a shame to have these creatures suffer. So, what is the price?"

"We'll pay the ten, and load up ourselves. After all, a bit of work won't hurt any of us." Lorcan says, passing payment over to the merchant.

"Nice doin' business with you. The feeding's here at the warehouse behind the stables."
He leads you to said warehouse and opens the lock on the door. I have no idea what horse feeding is like, so somebody with more knowledge please fill in here.

OOC: Well, I ws curious. My intention was to know all of what I could feed him, so that my options are open. But carrying around enough meat to feed him may be a challenge. ;)

"Hmmm, do you know where I could get dried meat?"

OOC: An Idea just came to mind. Use preserve organ from BoVD, and just cast it on animal limbs, so that the bat will have 'fresh" meat.

Lorcan dismounts, and after introducing himself to the new mule, starts loading the sacks of feed into its saddle packs.

"Here's a good place for you to start, Chendra. Not all of the adventuring life is glamorous. Give me a hand loading up Humphrey here." He pats the newly christened mule fondly, giving Chendra a wide grin.

Horros
"I wouldn't count on getting a discount with just that information. The dwarves you just saw know all about it, and I still got 10% extra from them. It's more knowing how to haggle, not knowing what the thing you're buying is worth."
She gives you another smile, then returns to her forge. You start riding through the city, looking for your companions... And will find them in a bit. Just a moment.

"Uhm... sure!" Chendra doesn't sound too enthusiastic, but she isn't trying to talk her way out of it either. She isn't really much of a help, taking twice as much time carrying a single sack as the rest of you, but she isn't complaining.

"I'm sure you'll find some on the market, though can't give you specific instructions." The man says to Haplo.
I don't have the BoVD, could you give me a run-down of the spell?

When you're halfway done with loading the feeding, you see Horros riding past. He doesn't look like he's spotted you.

Durban

"Humphrey. A sound name, Lorcan," Durban says. Being unfamiliar with packhandling skills he watched without commenting.
