Snacks anyone?

One of my groups table problems is, who should bring the snacks. We play DND 3e and the most common argument is who should have brought the Coke and chips or if it the DM's job along with preparing the game to buy the snacks.
I really don't think that the Dm should have to burden himself anymore after preparing a game and then making it work.
If we had the players take turns bringing snacks i sure there would always end up being some sort of confusion and end up not having any snacks for the game.

Also another question I had was what is the best type of snack to have at a gaming session. Carrots and Celery isn't the best choice. Nether is Nachos, gives gas and is messy.

If anyone has any good ideas on how to decide who brings the snacks and your opinions on the dm having the snacks prepared and brought.
Also if you have any good snack ideas for the gaming table I would be happy to hear what you think.
Thanks...

Have a lucky situation myself. One family hosts, and the rest of us just toss in cash. If you don't trust your players to provide munchies, do it yourself and make them provide the cash. No coin = no chips ;) Or you can always make each person provide the food and drink they want.

Who brings what..

Well in my current group we always play at this one person's house. They provide most of the munchies. Everybody brings what they each want to drink. The situation has just evolved that way, no particular plan. And since the hosts are the biggest snackers it works out.

In a another group I ran I would provide the Mt. Dew and everybody else brought snacks. That was one of the most snack intensive group I had ever scene. They dropped a good 20-30 dollars per session on junk food.

Yes, you need to work out some sort of system. Either rotating schedule for who brings the snacks. Or best of all have everbody thrown in a little money each time.

Knightcrawler :D

We all bring'em. Sometimes, if the wives get really carried away, we barbecue out on the deck, and we have food assignments and all that. But mostly we just all bring some stuff.

I am the DM and host of my monthly gaming session.

I provide a couple of 2 liters, a bag of chips/dip and usually something healthy like carrot sticks/dip. Whatever's on sale.

To top it off my daughter (3) likes to help mom bake a batch of those chocolate chip cookies that come in the tube. She brings them down to us about midgame and hands them out to everyone like they are receiving a holy order or something! :)

With our group, we all try to pitch in $5 to the communal fund jar, which resides in the basement. Pizza bucks, issued by a local hotel and good for a local joint, are also considered legal tender. And if folks can bring in a bag of chips or a bottle of pop, all the better.

Since I, along with my honey, host the game, we also have other sundries, typically popcorn, or coffee/tea, if we're all a bit on the broke side. And when we can, we cover for other folks if they are short.

We've never had a problem, though this is a pretty free and loose system.

My group usually provides snacks, each man for himself. If I'm feeling generous, or if the session is going really well I will often spring for a couple of pizzas; however, if they are from Pizza Hut, all the books (which are mine) must be safely put away and secured before the grease-fest begins.:)

As far as snack-content, I feel a couple of green tubes of pringles are top-notch, and of course the Dew must be done. And cigarettes. Can't forget the cigarettes. :D

People should share in the cost of sode/beer snacks/pizza whatever you are having. So, either bring something or bring cash to pay the people who did.

I am always the host, and used to be the DM. I have bought the vast majority of munchies and soda. However one of the players made a major Sam's club run recently to pay back. Beyond that effort, I have been the provider. Every so often the wife makes baked goods, and I have fed them burgers or wings on occasion.
