Snacks anyone?

I host the games and ususally end up cleaning up, but every body brings their own snacks. Occasionally some or all order out depending upon eachs finances.

Our DM (my husband) is usually pretty busy prepping for the game, so I'm usually the one who remembers things like soda or chips/snacks. (Sometimes I even cook dinner for everyone...) But, we don't always have the time or money, so the players tend to bring things to drink, and usually order out for food.

As far as snacks go, we used to do the chips & salsa thing, but that can get pretty messy when six people are reaching over the table and their character sheets with salsa and salty chips. What people usually bring now are cookies or candy (like Mike & Ike's or Sweedish Fish.)

What we did for a little while was start a "D&D Fund" where the players would give us a little money here & there & when I went grocery shopping, I'd just pick up soda and whatever snacks they wanted. But, we got out of that habit after a little while, and now people bring soda & order food out.

In our group each participant brings his own food & drinks. Asking for other peoples' stuff when you've got nothing is generally not well received. At least when it comes to drinks - it's not like people couldn't have prepared.

If we can't eat all, we'll rather throw it away than give it to someone else ;)

EDIT: Post number 500! Huzzah! :D:D:D:D:D

We host the game at our house on friday evenings. In order to get the game started in good time, I usually end up cooking dinner, anything from chili to stew to burgers. I also buy chips and soda, have plenty of coffee available, and I make fresh popcorn. In order to offset the cost of cooking for 6 people, everyone in the group puts $5/week dues into the communal fund (including us). I take out money for groceries, anything left over goes toward communal trips (like the one we took to see the D&D movie)

We used to do the communal money thing where we'd order food but a few people would always be broke so we stopped doing that.

I also used to let people drink my pop back in the day but here was the problem.

Person #1: Can I have a pop?

Sure

Peson #2-#8: Can we have a pop?

Uh... no.

Now it's pretty much byob and it works pretty well with a few people learning that water is a good alternative to expensive pop.

hehe

We don't argue about snacks. Everyone usually brings their own food and drink, plus any snacks they want to eat, which they usually share. I like to bring Pringles, Wheat Thins, and sometimes cashews. I've found that the older I get the less I bother with snacks. I usually just bring dinner :)
