Sneak Attack question

[...]What is a Gestalt?

Hi!

"Gestalt" is a german noun. The translation of this word includes the english nouns "form", "figure", and "shape". The corresponding verb is "gestalten", meaning "to shape", "to arrange", "to organize", "to create", and "to design".

Enjoy!

In english it means something like 'having component part while also being a unified whole' (you can find a formal definition at dictionary.com).

Interesting that the original german word apparently means something entirely different (or at least, a lot less specific).

Sneak Attack doesn't stack for a multiclass character? I don't think that's right.

I think you missed something. If it stacks for a multiclass character, you do NOT get it with Gestalt. Therefore, since Sneak Attack DOES stack for a multiclass character, you do NOT get it with Gestalt.

(like putting the words of the title in alphabetical order).
So that's why I've been stuck using a Dungeon Gaster's Muide and Hlayer's Pandbook all this time? :p

If I can confuse the issue a little more, the UA description of gestalt characters specifically mentions sorcerer/wizard gestalt, which gets the spell progressions of both classes.
Actually, they're similar but different (similar in how Skirmish and Sneak Attack are similar but different). For the gestalt Sor/Wiz, your sorcerer spells are spontaneous, use your charisma, metamagicing them takes time, and so on, whereas your wizard spells are prepared, use your int, and you're not limited in the number of them that you can know. Both types will let you cast fireball (well, if you choose to know fireball with your sorc. progression anyway), but they're not totally interchangeable.

Now, a Rogue/Scout would probably get both Sneak Attack and Skirmish.
Definitly. Because just running 10 feet doesn't normally let you Sneak Attack someone. The interesting question then becomes what happens when I qualify for both Skirmish and Sneak Attack at the same time? Do I have to pick which one applies, or do I get all that the attack qualifies for? Likewise with Sneak Attack/Sudden Strike, and so on. Personally I'm inclined to say you'd get full benefit from all relevant features in a situation that qualifies for them. It makes the Doublemint Sneak able to dish out a boatload of extra damage, but hey... it's a gestalt character... what did you expect?

Oh, I see it now. Oops.
