Sneak attacks around corners

The Rogue is behind a pillar and goes into hiding before coming around to attack... This is an approiate use of the hide skill. The target doesn't know where or when the Rogue is going to come from.

Now if the pillar wasn't big enough to totally conceal her while she hides, then she would need some levels in the Shadowdancer (or be epic) to accomplish this.
Or pull off a successful bluff check to divert the target's attention. Couldn't attack the same round, though (barring haste).

Lidda: Look! It's the tarrasque!
Victim: Where!? Where!? Hey, I don't see any... where'd she go?

Yes he does; from behind the pillar. It's not that hard to figure out.

And I know that goblin is coming down the dark 5 ft corrider straight at me with listen checks, but I still lose my dex bonus against an invisible attacker.

I'd say this situation is simply substituting a good bluff check for a good hide check. If you move behind the pillar and hide (your full action) then on the next round moved and atacked, I would allow that to be a sneak attack. Its not really that different from a rogue feinting in combat and then next round attacking.

And is the pillar in darkness...?

Is the rogue invisible...?

Your point is...?

I wouldn't, for the reasons already mentioned.

It's usually hard to bluff someone who isn't watching.
