*sniff* My PS2 just died...

I guess Gran Turismo 4 was too much for it. While it eventually would load, it had trouble reading the GT4 disc (like a lot of launch models, apparently) and had been making a lot of noise and clunking sounds. But now, it won't spin at all. I guess the motor wore out. :\

Dude...you killed it! How long have you had it?

I wish I had the money for GT4...been keeping myself busing playing GT3 again, which, when combined with Capcom vs. SNK II, can distract my lack of GT4 ownership.

Hmmmm. I'm not sure. 3-4 years. I bought it about a month before they dropped the price to $200 from $300, which irked me to no end.

I didn't use it that much. I only used it for RPGs and the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. I bought it for GT3, but never liked it much (GT4 is much, much, much better).

Sorry, man! At least they're even cheaper now! :heh:

The fact that I can't get this on my Dreamcast is what is finally dragging me out of my luddite hell and into buying either a PS2 or an Xbox. Currently leaning more towards PS2, but I'm still wavering. My kids would like to have this game on Xbox so they can use the EO functionality.

Nice to find another fan of these types of games! Sadly, it's a subgenre that's had its day.

*sniff*? Are you kidding me? ;)

I can't wait until my PS2 dies! I'm really looking forward to grabbing one of those slim PStwos.

Yeah, the tiny ones are cool. I just got one about 2 months ago. As long as the $150 doesn't hurt the wallet too much just go for it. :)

Well, that's the rub. It will be a few months before I'll be able to afford to replace it. And just as I was in race 8 of the 10 race final championship on pro in GT.

Still, if something's going to go wrong, I'm happy it's something as trivial as a PS2, and not a body part

And in a few months, the price is supposed to drop again anyway, or so I hear.

Hmm, I had read recently that it was unlikely any of the systems would drop again this year (maybe the Xbox, but that was dependent on the Xbox 2 being released this year).

I find the EO mode rather annoying, it actually removces some functionality. Of course depending on the ages of your kids it'd likely be a better option, and you can always choose the normal mode (though it always defaults to EO mode as I recall, which makes no sense for the Xbox version).

The real bonus for the Xbox version is the ability to play online.
