Llewellyn Bryce

One of my favorite 3E characters so far, an immensely talented sorcerer named Llewellyn Bryce. I play Llewellyn as the Dragonfly’s partner in crime every now and again (see Jameumz’s Story Hour: Silent Spiral: Tales of the Dragonfly )

The theory with Llewellyn was very simple - it’s all about Charisma, baby! Throughout his career I have strived to maximize the DC’s of his saving throws and simply plow through even tough opponents’ ability to save. Also, all those fast types with evasion don’t bother me nearly as much - I fireball them a good percentage of the time, too.

Albern was born in the Shield Lands to a family with a long history of membership in the Knights of Holy Shielding. When he was two, the invasion of the Shield Lands by the Horned Society began, and he fled with his mother, older sister, and two aunts - first to Amundfort, and soon after to Greyhawk. There his mother met and married Cedric Maloney, a stern but kind man devoted to the teachings of Heironeus. She gave Albern his name to hide the child’s true ancestry. After several years of saving, Cedric purchase a small frontier homestead in Furyondy near the edge of the Vesve Forest. They moved when Albern was eight, leaving his two aunts behind in the city.

Also around this time Albern took his first oaths to serve Heironeus. He began to develop a small measure of fame in the region for the aid he lent to the good woodsman of the Vesve with their daily tasks and helping administer to any wounded or sick. This brought him to the attention of Preston Davenport, a paladin passing through the area, who was impressed by the yound lad’s piety and obvious celestial ancestry. He took young Albern under his wing, and at the age of thirteen he traveled with Preston and the paladin’s young cousin Richmond Prescott to Chendl to begin formal training.

After six years Albern and Richmond began to advance themselves in the church hierarchy and Albern was accepted into the order of paladins, while Richmond chose to remain in the clergy. Albern has just finished his training, but he and Richmond have been called away south to Hommlett to investigate the mysterious disappearance of their mentor.

Albern knows his father was a knight, but does not know his true family name nor any of his colorful family history. He has been identified in his early travels as a threat by a powerful demonic entity. This is sure to make life more interesting for him.

The other members of their group are: Dysana (5th lvel female human diviner) - Richmond's cohort, and the other PC's whose names I forget: a human male ftr 5/ order of bow 1, a svirfneblin rogue 3, and a male human abjurer 6. This group has shown itself to be extremely potent as they work very well together - the two followers of Heironeus up front with their longswords, the two mages behind them hurling spells, and the bow initiate and rogue providing covering fire from the rear rank.

I also have the stats for Preston Davenport laying around here somewhere, the mentor of Albern and Richmond. He's a level 10 male human paladin of Heironeus and I'll probably get around to posting him at some point, too.

Torgo and Endrin are the current traveling companions of Filthy Ike, who is active again in a PBEM I started. I'll leave it to Dungannon to post Filthy Ike himself at some point. Eventually I'll work these further adventures of Ike into the Prelude SH.
