Snowboard Cross Olympic Finals

Ski Cross tonight. Gotta be happy with the way they've reworked the Winter Olympics. The snow cross, ski cross, super G, skeleton and halfpipe have turned the world's dullest winter sports event into entertainment.

The Netherlands won gold on a snowboard event. Funny thing is, it was the first ever (gold? ) medal won in the winter olympics not for speedscating. At least that's what they told on Dutch television.

The Netherlands did well at Speed Skating.

Congrats to Joannie Rochette.....to win a bronze after losing her mother to a heart attack at the Olympics, a few days before....that takes guts.

You know I can see where actually doing curling could be fun but as a spectator sport it baffles me.

It's partly in the slowly building tension as the curling stones head towards the target, and the sweepers try to their bit to get it in the right place, and partly the the strategy and tactics across the series of ends.

Having said that, I was depressed at the GB skip's shots... in the last match of the round-robin taking three of our stones out of the house, and missing a vital shot led us into the shoot-off against Sweden, and after a dodgy start we pulled back to a very strong position, and had a potential winning position in the 10th end... and then the skip played an astonishingly bad shot which took us to an 11th end and gifted it to the Swedes. Gah!

Watching the winter olympics as a Brit is always a bit funny. None of our world champions do well, and we seem to typically get a surprise medal from an outsider! (Cheers to Amy Williams in the Skeleton Bob!). Exciting games, none the less. Well done Vancouver.

Cheers
