So apparently the Cthulhu movie already came out . . . and I missed it??

Huh. IMDB has this movie being listed as a gay movie first and a cthulhu movie second.

Yeah. That seems to be the case.

A Seattle history professor, drawn back to his estranged family on the Oregon coast to execute his late mother's estate, is reaquainted with his best friend from childhood, with whom he has a long-awaited tryst. Caught in an accelerating series of events, he discovers aspects of his father's New Age cult which take on a dangerous and apocalyptic significance.

So here I am, wondering when the heck that Cthulhu movie is coming out, the one with the cool trailer that I saw last summer, the one with Tori Spelling in it (ugh).

And apparently it's already been out and gone. I heard nothing, nada, about it. Can anyone fill me in? It's apparently set in the Seattle area and has a gay protagonist.

Was it any good? Did it actually make it to theaters, or did it go straight to video?

This actually showed at the Lovecraft Film Festival that took place here in Portland a few months back. However, I wasn't able to see it, since I was watching a block of shorts at the time it played. For what it's worth, though, I thought the trailer for it looked pretty pretentious, so I didn't feel too cheated by missing it.

The funny thing about the trailer is that at first it seems like teh awesome (at least IMHO) but then you realize nothing has really happened. There's a ton of shots of surf and ocean, and shots of people talking animatedly, and shots of the Tori Spelling chick, and shots of people in robes at one point, but nothing really to grab your attention. Just CTHULHU at the end. The letters, of course, not the creature. Like they'd have the budget for any special effects.
