im just wondering about new ideas for spatial constructs or extra terrestrial races (i already used the Fraal from alternity) and perhaps a broader scope without incorprating tooo much sci fi. id like to hold to fantasy structure of the game.

Have you already used Planescape and Spelljammer stuff? You should be able to find some of those materials at conventions or on eBay. Beyond Countless Doorways might also help.

You might want to look at a lot of the GURPS worldbooks out there; for the most part, the 'rules' part of a GURPS worldbook is very limited and they are chock-full of adventure seeds, world information, details on how characters relate to the world and the NPCs within. There are dozens of them and the GURPS 3rd Edition ones are also selling very cheaply right now - since you're just mining it for ideas, the edition won't matter at all.

As far as I know, there are no plans for a Redwall RPG though it's probably just a matter of time, if someone hasn't already done it.

I don't think that I've seen one. I remember seing something on another forum where people were trying to build a redwall campaign using the FUDGE rules.

I think you could do it using Palladium's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Other Strangeness... ;)

as far as not being able to wing it, any trained chimp can do that....let's see...

"youre in the tavern (gasp). you see all the other future party members who im going to describe vaguely or allow the players to do it. either or.

Well, yeah, anyone can wing it poorly, but some DMs can wing it and come up with something far better than I would have prepared in advance. And, since "No plan survives contact with the enemy", every DM has to wing it sometimes. I agree that excessive winging it can be bad, but sometimes the best ideas arise from spontaneity.

Now, back on topic, it sounds like your PCs have done a lot of exploring. Have you tried an urban campaign, with politicking an so forth? You could have, say, a scism in the paladin's or cleric's church. Or the PCs are sent on a diplomatic mission. (There are some great examples of these in the Story Hour forum.) Instead of giving them more places to explore, you can spice up what you've already got. I've never done it, but some people hold an entire campaign in the same city!

But if that's not your style (and there's nothing wrong with that), It sounds like the next logical step is the planes. Planescape is excellent, and you can add new planes to your heart's content. I guess you could also go the Spelljammer route.

Our group made our most recent homebrew. We sat around a table, discussed what we wanted to see in our world, and made it up. We created a rough history, map, and societal outline. We did a lot of work over email until we had a fairly functional world. Now we're just fleshing it out as we go along.

The DM loved it because we're all super interested in the campaign, and he had to do very little work himself to get the world set up.

Alliance, Ohio? Great Scott! I grew up in Alliance Ohio! I thought all of the stores that sold game books were gone from there. I used to have to go to Canton to get material.
At any rate, have you considered keeping the settings, but instigating some kind of overwhelming change to the environment or pantheon. Midnight has some excellent flavor, is a good model of world wide catostrophic changes, and could be pretty easily spun towards first ed. One bad god, less magic and more bloodshed, and an entirely new feel to places that were once familiar to the players. Old haunts and hideouts are newly haunted and well patrolled by enemies. All of that preexisting source material is stil there and waiting to be rescued or rediscovered.

there is a crappy store called EC books, which i pretty much bought out as far as RPG material goes. okay the store is crappy only in the rpg aspect. i usually have to go to belden village, or yard sales.

if you had gamer friends in this area, Jeff Finucane is my stepdad....maybe you know me. i'm his stepson jeremy.

EC? On State street? Yeah i remember that place. It was strictly sports and magic cards when i lived near there. I tried playing a D&D game there once, but we had to play onthe porch, outside, since that was the only space the owner could spare.
I only know a few gamers in Alliance, guys i used to game with when i lived there, but dont see much anymore. Jeff Hobbs,Matt Wellman,Mat Davis, Chris Gates are a few of the guys. I think they still game but havent seen em in some time so im not sure.
I used toget my stuff at Land of Cran comics, but when they moved out of town i turned to Spellbinders and Kenmore Komics for resources.
Did you decide on what material to start using in your ongoing game?

with a town of only 20,000 people youd think id have heard of some oh the ones you named.

yes i have decided! the god-city idea has already started, with my players currently investigating the connection between an orc raid, the snake cult of yig in the southern jungles of rahaja, and an ominuos throbbing beneath the ground in the holy city, and a mysterious island appearing off the coast of a distant continent, and strange astrological portents, this looks like one for the books.

by all means keep the ideas coming! we can use this as a general campaign/adventure idea pool. in fact ill start another one. Dm's working together kicks ass.
