Interesting that point buy is currently leading the poll by a nose.

I don't find point buying supports the feel of a mediaeval game, though I'd prefer it for modern or future play. I'll use anything that speeds up NPC creation and makes them fade just a little back from the PCs, so stat arrays suit me well for NPCs.

Point buy for PC's (generally 32 points)

Monsters with classes or NPC's with classes get the elite array from the MM.

Henchmen or NPC's who have a re-occuring role in the storyline generally get 28 point buy.

Major villains get 32 points.

Crazy weird systems here. ;)

My PbP used a combination of PB and dice rolls.

The last characters we started rolled 3d6 (twice, take higher roll) in order, then add d% (rounded to nearest whole number) of the average ability modifier of the parents.

Dice Rolls for everyone. Here it is how it is done in my homebrew: all stats have a base of 10, PCs have a choice of adding 1d8 or 2d4 (one must be chosen, then applies that to all ability score rolls).

First time today we used an Array of number to make the characters. Every time we try a new game we seem to try a new of making characters. I like the change. We have used every system listed in the poll except the duct tape.
