so how have your gaming groups taken to 3.5?

Just wanted to see what people's gaming groups thought of the new rules. So far my group has accepted it but grudgingly. I really have been looking forward to 3.5 and gave ample warning to my group that once the books came we would be switching over. Mostly people in my group are concerned with the changes to spells. The new haste didn't go over well (even though there has been many a spellcaster that used the old haste against them). The new buff spells (ie. cat's grace) weren't appreciated either. They're warming up to the changes. Just wanted to know how other groups are taking the changes

my players have the new books. I don't yet. so for now I am still running the unholy 3.25 hybrid I was running before. some of the 3.0 stuff, some of the 3.5 stuff and some house rules to fix the inconsistancys.

My group is actually looking forward to playing in a 3.5. The game I get to play in, we almost had a TPK and were all planning our 3.5 characters but the blasted wizard saved us all.

I am suprised by my group, they have taken to 3.5 really well.
I provided them with all the update and conversion stuff but a few have bought the PHB and have done well in designing their new characters for my new campaign.

It does help that I am giving experience for a decent character background (200 for OK, 300 for a good one), and I am starting them at 3rd level.

My group seems OK with it. We're making the change pretty much all at once and aside from a few house rules - we are embracing the change.

They are somewhat antsy over the Haste changes (which to me says that they must be good changes, the players are worried about how they will operate without access to the old haste anymore). Otherwise, they have no issues with the changes. Our ranger LOVES the changes.

Seeing that my groups doesn't include any wizards or sorcerers above 2nd level (we've got a multiclassed ranger/sorcerer), haste is not an issue - up until now it was exclusively used against them, so they're happy about the change ;)

Both of our rangers are satisfied with the changes - although the loss in Hit Points did hurt them (yeah, right: all the benefits with none of the drawbacks... players - it's always the same ;) ).
Paladin, druid and monk all liked the changes. And the clerics, the fighter and the rogue didn't complain :)

All in all: no problems here - to the contrary, in fact.

As my DM is Olgar Shiverstone, we had the master to guide us into 3.5. The fact that we had no one capable of casting 3d level spells helped too. There have been some growing pains, but that is to be expected.

Of course, diaglo expressed reluctance about anything not written by EGG.

My other group barely knows 3.5 exists, and I have not pushed conversion on them yet, although we are starting a beer and pretzels game that will use 3.5.

It's a bit touch and go. I'm running 3.39, which is 3.5 without some of the changes that seemed to be just for the sake of changing and several changes that exist with reservations because I agree a change was needed, but don't like the one provided, and haven't yet worked out a workable alternate.

our first true 3.11ed for Workgroups session is this Sunday. hopefully it will go w/o a hitch.

i picked up the Conversion Guide at Gen Con just in case.;)
