So I blew my warp whistle and look what happened.

Apparently everything sped up, and there are these pipes labeled 6, 7 and 8. I wonder which one I should go down?

What's your favorite Nintendo NES game and memory? I think mine is the two nights with a cousin spent with almost no sleep trying to beat The Legend of Zelda. (No bloody 2, 3, 4 or subtitle business).

Favorite Game: Final Fantasy I. Hands down.

Favorite Memory: Pounding the heck out of each other for 24 hours straight in Pro Wrestling. Why was that game so good?

Double Dragon II on co-op was great fun. The later levels became frantic mayhem. And the Shwarzenegger clones were badass. :)

Punch Out was brilliant too. Take that Mike Tyson!

Ah, the memories...

I liked watching my brother lose all of his extra lives in Super Mario Bros in the last world where there's that double-jump where you have to time the second jump perfectly to make it over the large second gap.

My friends and I stayed up all night one time playing Legend of Zelda 2: Adventure of Link, and we took turns on one screen killing blobs for XP for hours.

Metal Gear was great... I loved the little exclamation point thought baloons when Snake was discovered.

I spent a few hours mapping out the 1st section jungle maze of Platoon.

Tecmo Bowl and Blades of Steel... still the two best sports games EVER MADE.

Kicking the crap out of my brother, and he me, in Double Dragon II.

Getting sick one day in High School and playing through Super Mario Bros 3 without warping.

Finding out the Metroid character is a chick. JUSTIN BAILEY

Sneering at the other folks on my hall as they're playing with X-boxes, PS2s, and such, and me setting up my NES in the common room... soon to be joined by a host of others wanting to play. That's my favorite, I think. The NES still kicks ass.

that's all after my time.

i still like pong on my Telstar

I've watched and watched, and it finally hit me... you just jumped off the train in 1974, didn't you? It's like the last 30 years didn't happen for you... :D

My favorite video game experience... probably Castlevania: SOTN. It was the first game I can remember truly man-handling even though it took me forever to do so the first time, which was important for my developing ego. Up until that point, I can't really remember playing a game through to completion without finally breaking down and using some sort of help... beating SOTN made me feel like I could beat other games on my own, which was a good feeling.

Metroid is probably my favorite NES game (though The Legend of Zelda is pretty darn good too). Interestingly, the thing I hate the most about either game is the same thing: when you die, you restart with a piddling amount of life/energy. So your first order of business is to restore your health to full, which takes *ages*.

One summer weekend day, about two weeks after Gauntlet II was released for the NES, my pregnant wife and I set up our lawn chairs, made sure the four-year-old had snacks and drinks in the fridge and were aware we were going to be in the living room all day, and played it until the NES couldn't count anymore and crashed. Its still one of our favourite Couple TIme memories. :)
