So I blew my warp whistle and look what happened.

Oh, so many video game memories.

Finally beating Gauntlet I (with the wizard) - hardest game I ever beat. (Gauntlet II sucked arse, btw)

I beat out others in a Super Mario Bros. competition at the local Wal-Mart to see who could get the highest score in 5 minutes. I won handily by warping to level 2 and bouncing on the turtle coming down the stairs. I got a free video game for that one!

Getting all 120 stars in Mario 64. That was TOUGH!

I'm amazed at how much of it I still remember. You can still download all these old games. I had something called Lynx, I believe, which is an Atari Emulator, and every game they ever made for it. There is a NES emulator, and an arcade emulator. I downloaded the NES one and beat Zelda. I was amazed at how many hidden places I still remembered, and how to defeat all those bosses. Same with Mike Tyson's punchout. I was amazed that I could still beat the charging Bull, and the hippo guy.

Let's say it together:

up up down down left right left right B A start

gotta love that game, much easier to beat once u get 30 lives instead of 3.

another nice gaming memory:

i had a cracked version of super mario brothers 3, and by pressing the A button or something, i can fly as if i had P-Wing. so, i clipped a clothes peg to the turbo A button and went for lunch and come back at the end of the level.

yes, more power to munchkins.

Old memory - Mike Tyson punchout finally beating hippo ?
Contra - gotta love them extra lives

New Memory
playing 6 hours on Katamari Dancey
over New years break
" you gotta roll around as fast as you can and pick stuff up."

best nes memory? probably beating zelda, but although i remember spending hours PLAYING zelda, it doesnt stand out.

Metal Gear was the other great NES game. And i had a special fondess for Golgo 13 although I never finished it.

I remember spending hours one Easter morning flipping the score on Pac-man for the Atari 2600.

I remember the wonder of Super Mario World for the SNES and Mario 64 for the 64.

And clearing Super Metroid with my right arm in a cast.

And the music of FABUL in FF2 (American) When we got to Yangs home town, the music was great, then Edward tripped when we were gettign invaded, that was cool...and PALOM AND POROM? one of the best video game moments ever

I remember getting to ride Epona for the first time in Ocarina of Time. Absolutely beautiful. And horseback archery? Still the best thing ever.

I remember Mumbo Jumbo "Me am best shaman in whole game" and lots of the zaniness in Banjo-Kazooie. Also one of the best endings ever,

The Palace with the reflecting pools in Jet Force Gemini.

The singing pile of feces in Conkers.

Hours and hours and hours of Battletanx, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Mario Party and Mario Kart 64 against my friends.

The N64 is by far the best system of all time.

Since then? not much.

Eternal Darkness' tricks were great, the first Metroid Prime was pretty and Animal Crossing was lots of fun for a week or two. And right now I'm halfway through and loving Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. but the current generation of systems mostly sucks.

The Gameboy had Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons. And Im sure Minsh cap will be fun also. And Mario Luigi Superstar Saga is one of the best games ever.

"World 7-1 was his hood" --- a hammer brother talking in Paper Mario: TYD talking about his grandfather.

Similar to jerichothebard, my favorite memory is of my parents becoming addicted to video games. It started with pong, and then Pac Man on the Atari 5600, but reached new heights with Mario Karts for the NES.

My mom and dad actually had to set rules for themselves, and used Mario Karts as a motivator, with chores they made themselves finish before they could play. And of course there were the times when emotions ran high over who was losing the most. Funny for a kid to see your parents get into video games, or at least it was. Now I guess it is normal, my kids see their mom and I play games, and they regularly beat me at most anything we play.

Best Game: SNES Legend of Zelda. It was a return to the form of the original, but without the annoying knack of not telling you what you were doing or what the story was. The first LoZ was good, but finding out the story, or the direction you were headed, was a third-party experience.

Best Moment:

This was with Super Mario Bros. 3. I had beaten the game years ago. Fast-foward to college days. By now I'm totally pro with Mario. Mario 3 is a cakewalk. But now you don't play the game just to beat it... you play against your friend, through all the levels, just to see who can rush through and get all the best items. No warping... that's too easy.

Anyway, I'm playing with my friend, and he's awesome good at the game too. In fact, better than I. But we're going through, wrecking the levels, and he's been getting lucky and getting all the tanooki and frog suits. We finally get the sixth world, Ice World. There's our chance to get that Hammer suit after level 5. We're now taunting each other over this suit. This is the pivotal suit. Sure, you can grab one later in world 7... but that's not our concern right now. We want the Hammer suit now. I'd lost the other suits too often. I needed this one.

The problem... whoever beats level 5 doesn't get the suit. The second problem... I can't just ignore the level because my friend had a Lakitu Cloud... meaning he could skip the board and go straight to the house.... I had to put him down.

The Result:

Of course, my friend attempted the cloud skip first. I was one "section" away from the level... effectively blocking off any other route to the world. He had to go past me. In SMB3, you can tap the A button when it isn't your turn to effectively "battle" him. So he goes for it with the cloud. I had to time it just right and get him. BAM! I stop his first attempt. We battle. I win.

Next is my turn... but now I have to beat the level. So, being a man, I go in. I finish it. But now it's his turn again. I have to stop him again for this suit. BAM! I get him again (he tries his hardest to move back and forth, to break my timing on catching him). We battle. It comes real close, but I win. Ah... sweet victory, that suit was mine.

Of course, the Hammer Suit is extremely worthless in that game, and he ended up doing the honors of finishing the last level. But that one moment was worth the whole trip.

Favourite NES memory? I used to play it alot (or as much as my parents would let me at the time) but it was awhile ago for me. Now the SNES, that was my time to shine. Where to begin? Favourite game of all time has to be Super Metroid. Best. Ending. Ever. Favourite memory/ies? The hours I spent on the various fighting games we had for it. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II Turbo (and the first time I beat my dad at it, straight with him playing Ryu no less), Clay Fighter 1 & 2 (SPINNING CARROT!), and three or four others that escape me at the moment. Otherwise I'd have to pick the time I had my appendix removed. The pediatrics wing in my hospital had this cart with an N64 and Mario Kart and Mario 64 on it. I was the only kid on the entire floor. I actually beat the darn thing that week.

Favorite NES game? That is hard. The NES was the bomb, lately I find myself less interested in current console titles and more anticipating the release of PC titles, like Age of Empires 3. Anyway, my three favorite NES games were: Ducktales, The Goonies and Super Mario Bros 3.
My best memory was playing SMB3 with my sister for 12 hours straight and beating the game in a single day. We played every level, we didn't skip any.
