SO I picked up my first 3 packs of Giants of Legend

Out of 3 packs, I pulled 2 Oytugh's, thats the same rare in 2 of the 3 packs. Just like when I picked up my first 2 packs of Dragoneye, I got 2 dwarven defenders. WOTC better fix the rare disribution, or I won't be picking up anymore packs.

I have not had that problem. I seem to have had a good selection of rare figures, but unless you're willing to purchase a good sample selection, then you run the risk of getting dupes. It sounds like you were unlucky.

I have purchased one case worth of GoL and I have received dupes 3 duplicate rares.

Luckily, I traded those on maxminis.com and now have much of what I wanted.

I'd love to have 2 Otyughs. Can't hurt to have more than one.

2 dwarven defenders... now that's something different.


Personally, there weren't any double rares or huges in four packs, and only one double uncommon (warforged fighter - hey, I don't mind that!). Finding one lizardman rogue in every booster was mildly annoying, though.

I understand your frustration, but isn't the distribution of rares pretty much random? I'm not sure that Wizards can really do much about that; it sounds like an unfortunate coincidence.

I should note that I've been fortunate enough to not receive any duplicate rares, but I tend to get doubles of the uncommons in the packs I buy. I kind of like having multiple xill, though...

You bought 3 packs, that's no reason to talk about the distribution as a whole. From the listed inventories of about 2 dozen cases in another thread, it seemed that the distribution was actually very solid (when your purchasing an average case), whereas 3 boxes could have come from two different cases that were similar to each other.

I just bought my first 4 packs of GoL (and my only D&D mini purchase since buying a Starter pack and one booster when they first came out).

I love the huge minis (how's that for an oxymoron)!

I also couldn't be more pleased with my distrobution.

For huges, I got a Warforged Titan, a Gold Dragon, a Treant and a Bulette!

I also got a Mordenkainen and a Drider, so now all I need is a Behir, and I'll be happy...

Go to http://www.maxminis.com and create an account on the forums there. Go to the trading forum and either post that you have oytughs (plus whatever else you're not interested in) available for trade. Include a list of stuff you're like to have instead. Or, just look around and see if anyone's interested in what you've got, and if they're offering anything that you'd like to have.

You could also probably get a decent price for an oytugh on Ebay.

The secondary market of auctions, trades, etc. is somewhat necessary given a random distribution of product. It's a hassle, but you can usually get what you want. Recently I was able to trade away an unwanted GoL rare (young master, blech), an unwanted huge (nightwalker) and a huge red for a whole bunch of minis that I wanted (including a behir and a bulette, which I was really disappointed at not getting in the four packs I bought).

The Behirs are awesome!!! A friend of mine bought a box of them and got one. So far, I haven't seen any boxes... but then I don't think Waldenbooks has gotten them in stock yet.....

I've had pretty silly luck with my huge minis, I've gotten:

3 fiendish tyrannosaurs
2 formorians
1 glabrezu
1 treant

Where's rollseyes when you need him?? There are at least two other huge commons... oh well, guess I'd better buy more. Gotta catch em all, you know.
